Would've made trading one of our starters easier to swallow.

Regardless, we definitely need a bat, no question. On top of that we need our guys in the bullpen to get healthy and we should really look to make a low key move for some bench help. If any of our remaining starters go down we're in serious trouble.

There's some talk of Steven Matz being really close to a call up....

NEW YORK (5/29)-- The New York Mets have promoted 2014 first-round draft pick Michael Conforto to Double-A Binghamton.

Conforto, the 10th overall pick last June out of Oregon State, hit .283 with seven homers, 12 doubles and 28 RBIs in 184 at-bats with Class A St. Lucie. He twice was named Florida State League player of the week.

Conforto, 22, manned left field for St. Lucie.

Maybe blasphemy, is the potential for David Wright to be out long term possibly a blessing in disguise? We desperately need a big time bat in this lineup, I'm not sure David is that guy (even if healthy, which he never is). 3rd base is a position where you can certainly get a quality hitter from.

In the meantime I wouldn't mind bumping Murphy over to 3rd and promoting Reynolds or seeing what Reynolds can do at 3rd.

I thought Wright was going to be a superstar for many years after his first couple of seasons. He went on a decline after 2008 and became just a good player. I would love for this team to have a power bat in this lineup to compliment Duda.

Heard a great point yesterday, kind of funny. We have Tejada, a SS, playing 3rd. We have Flores, a 2B, playing SS and Murphy, a 3B, playing 2nd.

Haha, and isn't Flores supposed to be a 1B candidate in the future?

Noah gets blown up and you gotta love the Post, they try as hard as they can: "It's the worst start of his brief career". At least they put the word 'brief' in there. ;)

SAN DIEGO -- Vic Black, who has been on the disabled list since the start of the season with a shoulder/neck issue, may actually be nearing a return.

After tossing a perfect relief inning Wednesday with Double-A Binghamton, Black's rehab assignment has been transferred to Triple-A Las Vegas.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins said he does not expect any players will be activated from the disabled list during this road trip other than Dillon Gee. But Black would appear poised to return as soon as next Tuesday's series opener against the San Francisco Giants at Citi Field.

PHOENIX (6/6)-- After playing three straight days for Class A St. Lucie, catcherTravis d'Arnaud and second baseman Dilson Herrera's rehab tours will shift to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Both players are expected to be activated from the disabled list during the New York Mets' upcoming homestand, which begins Tuesday against the SF Giants.

D'Arnaud landed on the DL April 21st with a fractured right pinkie, then was slowed last week by a bone bruise in his right wrist.

Herrera landed on the DL May 16th with a fracture to the tip of his right middle finger.

Both will be welcome additions. If for nothing else just to deepen our bench which is embarassingly thing right now.

From reading tidbits here and there, apparently we are waiting for that Super 2 thing to pass and are also hoping to move Niese (if not, maybe bullpen with Gee)...and then we Go to the Matz!

Not wanting to put the cart before the horse, but...I can't help but think about the potential of next year's starting rotation. Just can't help it.

Anyway, back to reality...;)

I would like to see the Mets start taking pitching again. We don't have much once the current guys on the cusp get up here. We've drafted bats consistently for years. Time to tip the scales again.
