If Sandy can manage to pull off a late season trade involving Colon like he did last year with Buck/Byrd I will be thrilled. Freeing up that money for a bat and hopefully adding some young arms as more depth for when we deal some prospects would be ideal.

It was actually working for awhile, when everyone was hitting....but it's run it's course...TC needs to plant EYjr back in that spot and leave him there. Wright also has to GTFO of that 3 hole....he's not getting the job done.

The daily lineup should be..

EY -- LF
Flores -- SS
Murphy -- 2B
Duda -- 1B
d'Arnaud -- C
Wright -- 3B
Lagares -- CF
Granderson -- RF
Pitcher

Campbell can spot start @ 1B, 3B, LF
Capt. Kirk can spot start in CF, LF, RF
Tejada can play SS when needed.
Recker is the backup C

WASHINGTON -- Matt Harvey reacted positively to the first “official” throwing session off a mound in his return from Tommy John surgery.

i

Harvey

“Definitely getting off the mound is the part that you hear guys have some troubles,” Harvey said Tuesday in Port St. Lucie, Fla., after a 20-pitch throwing session, via SNY. “The way that it felt throwing from the first day, I think today definitely proved that right. It felt great.”

Harvey actually had thrown off a mound Friday at Citi Field. He underwent Tommy John surgery on Oct. 22, 2013.

Harvey said he still aims to pitch this year. Sandy Alderson has suggested the fall instructional league in Florida, which spans late September and early October, is realistic.

“That hasn’t changed,” Harvey said about his desire to pitch in 2014. “Once I started throwing, my mindset was to come back and compete and play. I loved being there in New York with the guys. I’m hoping the process keeps going smoothly, and you never know what can happen.

“The last thing you want to do is jeopardize the career, or 2015. I think everybody is trying to do their best to figure out what’s the right time, what’s exactly causing this injury so frequently. But, for me, I’ve felt great the whole time. It feels normal. It feels like nothing happened. When that happens, it’s hard to wait.”

As for goals for the year, Harvey added: “Just be healthy, go through the process. Today, obviously, was getting off the mound. And the next couple of times are mixing in different pitches, and eventually facing some hitters. The biggest thing is being healthy and not having any setbacks.”

I think Degrom was closing in on his innings limit anyway. As long as it's nothing serious like TJ surgery, shut him down and let him get healthy for next season. There is no reason to risk anything this year.

while still shitty, they are on the upside. I do think the FA class coming up is not a great one, trading an arm or two may have to be the way to go. imo, I say 2 bats away from having a good offense. Given that Duda continues to build on his career, and maybe Lagares improving his offense as well. This is a very generic comment, but i am hungover today.

The lack of brains and common sense of this teams front office and ownership is downright appalling.
This shouldn't even be an issue. No need to roll the dice with him this year.
There's nothing to gain...but everything to lose.

New York Mets talk to Matt Harvey about slowing rehab after Jeremy Hefner's setback - ESPN New York

Y'know, I just don't get it. Alderson and Ricciardi used to be such intelligent, savvy guys. What happened?

Why is Terry Collins still managing this team?

This is fucking NEW YORK CITY, for chrissakes!

Apologies for the mini-rant...just getting a little tired of Bush League ownership and management.

Please let this just be one of Terry's buddies starting a rumor.

They ran Willie Randolph out of town first chance they got and yet Jerry Manuel and Terry Collins can do no wrong.

* Unjustly I might add. That douche Omar Minaya and his idiot crew of cronies basically ruined this team...even before the Madoff /Wilponzi fiasco did.

Man, Terry ain't no winning manager. He's ok, but not a Championship manager.

Watching these Mets play a real playoff contender really shows how off the mark they are. It might take two offseasons to fill all the holes. We all know the FA class coming up stinks, and there's really no one to trade for who can stick around 3+ years.

It appears my tongue-n-cheek approach will return now that in mid August the .500 talk can now cease.
