Rtech, NFL.Com stats has the 49ers with 55 PD - either way, just a slight improvement over last year ;)

Stats were from yahoo.com.

Defensively, the Niners have improved significantly; having a consistent pass rush is helping the secondary and vice-versa.

LOL!!! I would probably go with YaHoo's #'s.

Yes, in some area's our D has improved measurable, while in others our extrapolated #'s are just about identical to last year. Overall, the biggest improvements in our D is our pass rush, red zone (points allowed) and turnovers.

I'm loving Fangio's D compared to Manusky's. Sure, this defense is more talented but they are also better coached as a whole. Ed Donatell is doing a great job with the Secondary as well.

Completely agree! The only downside to that though is that the more we win, and the more dominant our defense becomes, the hotter the names of our coordinators and assistant coaches get in terms of HC opportunities on other teams. Such a double edged sword it is! I pray that we can keep our coaching staff intact for at least a few seasons.

Anybody know the contracts of all our coaches? Just curious.

I can see Tomsula being a huge commodity for a team, hope he stays here! But soon enough he will deserve a DC or head coach job down the line i would think.

I agree with this. The only benefit that the 49ers may have is that both Donatell and Vic Fangio are not two new young up and coming coaches. They have been around the NFL for a long time and have coached for many teams.

I love me some D. Great seeing what good coaching can get out of a squad. Particularly one where there has been nearly 50% turnover.
