Well, fortunately, his name is not Merriweather where he likes to tackle with his helmet.

He does play with reckless abandon, but he had not had a concussion prior to the beginning of this season.

Zeitler is said to be out until mid to late October I thought.

Didn't realize Thompson was still hurt.

True. Thompson is underrated. He's a big contributor on the run defense.

Sounds like Marvin is saying that Tez will go so that will be a big lift.

I think Lamur and Dennard are going to make major improvements as the season goes on as well. Could be a dominant defense if we stay healthy.

I agree with you 100%. Lamur is already stepping up with Burfict being injured. I am very impressed with Lamur. Really wished we had had him last year all year. If we had, we might have actually one another game or two that were close and given us a 1st round bye. Who knows where that would have taken us. Probably one and out still but it would have made things more interesting to have had two weeks to prepare for an opponent. Or at least 1 week to prepare for 2 opponents, and then a week to focus on that opponent solely.

Injured ankle -- Probably out for the game on Sunday. I'm starting to think the guy might be made of glass. He hasn't been healthy since last season ended.

BTW..... Burfict was out again and it's becoming more and more likely that he'll be out again.

Burfict knows the defense like the back of his hand. He is still in the training room, and in meetings, so I am not concerned, and I doubt the Bengals are either. They are holding him off until tomorrow for his first live practice I am sure, giving him the max amount of rest before putting him back out there.

I'm fairly sure it's not in their hands.... From my understanding, he hasn't progressed through the NFL's concussion protocol. Even if Marvin wants him to play, he can't play until the independent docs say so. I agree that he would be fine without practice, but I just don't think he'll be healthy enough to play.

Give him another week.

Yes, it'd be nice to have him, but EL and VR are solid backups. Guys that can step in and fill those roles well.

The most important thing for Burfict is to get 100% so that this doesn't happen again this year. A 3rd concussion in 3-4-5 games would be a seriously bad sign.

I think the first game he is eligible to come back is the NO game. But there haven't been many updates on his elbow

If that is the case, then that is worrisome, as he has had 2 full weeks to recover.

It isn't like we need him a ton against NE offense right now, but I would still feel better with our defensive MVP on the field calling the plays.

I believe it is the Cleveland game on Nov. 6th. That would be 9 weeks. I think the IR-return is for 8 weeks, making him eligble the next week (Cleveland) but I could be wrong.

I thought two weeks was enough time to get Tez through the concussion protocol. Guess I was wrong.
