Fed standing right on the baseline, and trying to take the ball even earlier than usual off the ground...almost pressing the issue too much, IMO.

Nole hitting all of his groundstrokes super deep, which makes it difficult for Fed. To take it as early as he's trying, it's like hitting half volleys from the back of the court for Fed. That's not going to work unless Nole starts hitting more shallow, which I doubt.

Both serving sharply. Fed has to keep that up.

Nice cat and mouse, but I'm leaning towards Nole right now. He doesn't have to press as hard, and it's very difficult to hit winners against him. That's how good his defense is right now.

2 bad misses by Novak there.

Could've had his break already

love that they're both playing at such a high level. still can't ge over how quick fed is taking the ball off the bounce. good strategy so far. keeping it up for a whole match will be beyond difficult, though.

when/if you see fed start backing off the baseline, you'll know he's in trouble.

yeah, a real prophet. fed couldn't save 12 break points in a row against the best returner in tennis. lol.

nole playing as well or better than in 2011, and that's scary for the field. would love to see him get the career slam in may.

people who don't play tennis cannot possibly understand what they're seeing right now.

everything is deep off nole's racquet. and it's virtually impossible to get a ball past him. just spectacular.

fed refusing to back off the baseline. probably wise. taking time away from nole is his only hope.

fed's actually standing even a little INSIDE the baseline after losing that first set. ballsy.

nole's level has dropped significantly. i think the crowd's getting to him. seems like he'd be too experienced to let that happen.

of course, nole has been playing at an OTHERWORLDLY level for 3.5 sets over the past 2 days, so maybe a lull was to be expected for a few games here.

Do you think Fed is Novak toughest challenger on hard courts? He seems to give him the most trouble on hard courts? At least in the non GS events

right now, yeah.

murray, when he's healthy/match tough, can go god mode on hard courts, too, though. he hasn't been there for a couple of years now, though.
