Just on CNN: pressure cooker lid found on top of a building. Any of u see that pic going around Facebook showing a guy walking on the roof? Bingo...

Yeah, except the lid was found on the roof of a different building.

Finding a lid mostly intact is a surprising and extremely valuable find.

Looks like it was the building next to the one where the bomb went off. Walk from rooftop to rooftop is easy

This might be the worst theory ever. Somehow the guy knew exactly where the lid of his pressure cooker bomb was going to land after detonation so he waited on the roof of the building next door - you know, just to be sure the lid wouldn't hit him - until it blew, then wandered off.

Finding the lid of the pressure cooker is important because if it was left there then they can use security camera footage to help ID the person and use as evidence. I'm actually amazed they have made an arrest. IDing a suspect isnt a shock but finding someone just from images and video is another story. Hopefully it is the right guy

Yeah, because if they slap his name and face all over the news - likely before the day is over if the reports of an arrest are true - and he's not the actual guy, he will have been so villified in the news and the court of public opinion that his life would be over.

Pressure cooker lids can be costly. maybe he wanted to get it back? I know this is no laughing matter but .........:L

I think the lid was in not good shape, so it wasn't "placed" there.

I have been involved in investigations where photos and security camera footage are sorted and correlated, and the methods they use are very good at identifying who they want to talk to. There are massively powerful systems they can use to correlate every item in a series of pictures and identify where and how it moves. They have people who are eerily good at it as well.

The backpack mostly survived. Enough to figure out everyone in the area who had one like it.

No way this was one person, though.

Or maybe...just maybe...he was trying to get a better view of the marathon. You know the event that 10s of thousands of people were there to watch.

What would that have to do with the landing spot of the pressure cooker lid.

So strange... lots of "official" law enforcement coming out to deny that any arrest has been made at the same time.

CNN keeps updating their headline/story text (less firm now, mentioning conflicting reports) but they keep leaving the "CNN first reported this story" part in their updates.

Such a clusterfuck... this "be fast, be first" mentality to reporting news... :L

IT APPEARS IMPROPER!

lots of media reports that an arrest has been made.

All from CNN. Who just splashed that there are "conflicting reports" of an arrest.

CNN: ARREST!
Everyone else: Uh, no.
CNN: CONFLICTING REPORTS!

What the authorities have is pictures of who they want to talk to. It is several people. What progress they have made on getting them in to question is unknown.

I have been watching the documentary on the 80's on Nat Geo, and the people from CNN were actually HAPPY that little girl fell down the well in 1989. That was their crowning achievement, because they reported 24/7.

The reporter said he was instructed to "Never stop talking until the girl is out of the well. Then - don't say anything."

CNN is despicable, as is the 24 hour news cycle they created.

The FBI has just released an official report that "there have been NO arrest made contrary to what some news agencies have reported"

The AP was first to say it and CNN followed.

FOX News only "confirmed" it when two sources inside either the police depart or FBI also confirmed it...so wtf is going on? This was before the rush of sources saying otherwise.

So FOX went with it only after sources independent of the AP confirmed there was an arrest.

Fox said the story was out there but they would not confirm it untill they got the information from the FBI. They did say that the AP broke the story and they also said CBS was saying there was NO arrest made.

Here's the original AP report:
Official: Boston Marathon bomb suspect in custody

"Officials deny Boston suspect arrested; Source stands by information" makes me wonder if the officials denying anyone is in custody is just a smoke screen to not tip their hand, since there is possibly another suspect involved.

And then there's this:

Update 2:57 p.m.: It looks like the AP and CNN got burned by a source. Both outlets are walking back reports of arrest. CNN now says, "There is conflicting information as to whether someone has been arrested in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. A federal law enforcement source told CNN's Fran Townsend that someone was arrested. But later, two senior administration officials and another federal official told Townsend that there had been a misunderstanding among officials and that no one has been arrested."

Everyone wants to be the 1st one to report something, so naturally things like this are to be expected.

No time to verify, check sources, or confirm anything anymore. Just take any information as the truth and run with it.

I was going to believe this, but then I received conflicting reports from various trusted sources.

Holy crap at some of the pictures in this album:

4chan ThinkTank - Imgur

(nothing graphic/post-explosions... just crowd pictures with stuff drawn on, "suspect looking" people circled, etc. courtesy of 4chan people, I think?)
