In order to watch the game today...

...I had to climb onto my snow-covered roof and clear out the snow on my DirecTV receiver. I live in Virginia and where I live we got about 20 inches of snow. Because of the receiver's position on my roof, the crest of the roof and the receiver itself combined to literally burry the receiver and block out signal.

Our home is a colonial so the roofs are high and pretty steep. Add to it the snow and ice up there and suffice to say I took a chance for this one. Thankfully the receiver is close enough to the crest of the roof I was able to move across the roof with on foot on each side of the crest, reducing the risk of having a Griswold-style slide from the roof!

I also had to do it before my wife woke up because I knew she'd disapprove of my little plan. The snow up there is cleared and my signal is as clear as ever! Ready for the game!

If by "spare me" you mean spare me all the Pats worship on NFL Network, I'll buy it. But I spared myself by taking the kids sledding outside. Everyone else in the neighborhood who is digging out seemed to be in a really bad mood. The sight of me enjoying myself with my kids probably didn't help.
