Wow. WOW!!!
I'm so pumped up right now. Ziggy freaking Ansah!!!
Unbelievable. The Lions finally did something right. And when I say "did something right" of course I mean that they finally did what I wanted them to do.
As many of you probably remember, I've been driving the Ziggy bandwagon ever since the Senior Bowl. And I haven't waivered. He's the next Pierre-Paul or my name isn't Shok!!
Those of you worried about him being a project, let me attempt to put your mind at ease. I don't think the Lions would have taken him this high based simply on his athletic ability and potential. There is one more variable not talked about a lot but this is a perfect example.
INSTINCT
You can't teach it. You can't develop it. You can't force it.
You are either born with it or you aren't. What Ziggy lacks in experience he more than makes up with instinct.
He is going to be a force on the edge for us. And it won't take as long as some of you think. He's a natural. He has a feel for the game and he is in the perfect situation to thrive. We will begin to see flashes his rookie season. And I predict by next season he will be a star.
A pass rushing specialist that can also tackle and chase down QB's & RB's trying to turn the corner due to his raw athleticism and instinct and feel for the game. It's a beautiful thing.
I'm not used to this. Normally I'm throwing hate at the Lions the day after a draft. This is brand new territory.
It does make me a little nervous that Pete Prisco gave the Lions an A+ grade and said that Ansah was his favorite pick of the entire draft. Prisco is an idiot. But I won't let that spoil my mood.
I'm in SUCH a good mood that I might not even kick my TV if the Lions draft another WR tonight. If they draft Justin Hunter to pair with Megatron & Broyles I'll complain of course. But I won't go ballistic like I normally do.
I'll go on record saying that I would love Arthur Brown. Talk about instinct. If we added Ziggy AND Brown to our front seven all of you would be amazed at how good our defense would become.
It's probably asking too much for the Lions to do what I want for two straight picks. But I would LOVE the Ziggy & Brown duo!!
