WKU had no idea what they were gonna see and bit on damn near every zone read fake to the RB and over persued. I have to admit I was fooled a couple times myself but I'm not so sure the over-pursuing defense isn't what fooled me.

I am cautiously optimistic about Magic. Some of his passes were really bad and would get picked off by a good secondary. However I do believe he will be more effective all around than Lee was last year. If our Defense can get close to where they were last year, our offense will certainly improve so we should win a few more games.

A couple years down the road Magic should be one of the best anywhere.

Yes, he'll get better.
He already does things better than Lee ever did. By the end of the season last year I was convinced Lee had peaked in abilities.
T-Mart throws the across the middle route better than Lee can. If completed that pass will sustain drives and/or just kill a defense. It's a tough throw but Lee couldn't get it down, it was either behind or too far ahead of the rcvr.

On flag or post patterns it's just as much the responsibilty of the rcvrs to make the play as it is the QB. No matter what level of QB their job is to look defenders off and get the ball downfield. It's up to the intended rcvr to battle for/go up and get the ball if he's covered well.

On the zone read run. T-Mart sells it as good or better than anybody I've ever seen (albeight it was WKU). Lee just couldn't execute that play and it was a big dimension of the offense that was lacking and made NU bland.
Lee didn't have the wheels and or decision making ability to make it work..T-Mart has a quick first step if the read is there for him to keep it.

Hopefully T-Mart can continue successfully executing/leading this offense as the competition gets tougher and defenses can actually start scheming for what NU is trying to do.

I agree with you both that he looked excellent on Saturday. But it was WKU and I think Lee would have also looked excellent against them. I will feel a lot better after Washington and KSU.
