About the whole Pacers/Nets seeding issue.

The Nets swept the Pacers this year and are 1 win behind Indiana.

Even though I highly doubt this happens but let's say Indiana loses to Philly while Brooklyn wins tmr night. This will put Indy at 49-32 and Brooklyn at 49-33 which means the Boston/Indy game which was canceled would have meant something right?

There's a huge difference in the 3rd and 4th seed. Either you're playing Miami in round 2 or NYK in round 2 (who Brooklyn matches up well with)

Does Indy get the 3rd seed because they won the division in the event of a tiebreaker?

Good question! I honestly have no idea after having started to type two different, conflicting ideas. My guess is that the record against the opponent trumps the division winner.

The way I understand it is 1 plays 8th seed, 2 plays 7th and etc as you know. Then in the second round, the winner of the 1 vs 8 plays the winner of the 4th vs 5th. In short they don't reseed the teams, so for example if the Lakers were to beat the Spurs because they get lucky and beat Houston tomorrow night, then they will get the benefit of playing the team the Spurs would have played which is why I think the Lakers could end up going to the western conference finals even though they really don't deserve it. I total favor reseeding myself. So Indiana plays Atlanta in the first round if nothing changes. In the second round, the winner of 1 vs 8 plays the winner of 4 vs 5, 2 vs 5 plays 3 vs 6 - that is because some bonehead theorized that teams 1-4 will always win.

The Boston game will have to be rescheduled this week by the NBA in order to reset it. You can look for an announcement in the next few days. They had to do that because the city in Boston was shut down after the terrorist attack

They won't rescheduled it. It was canceled, not postponed.

I don't think this will be an issue as I expect Indy to beat Philly but it would be interesting if they were to lose to Philly

The NBA cancelled the game saying it would have no impact on Indy or Boston's seeding. I trust them to know the scenarios.

If they don't reschedule the game, then Boston might have to take the loss and forfeit the game since it was their venue and their game.

Me too but I'm just wondering what is the reason for Indy getting a possible tiebreaker with Brooklyn? Is it the division winner fact? Because there is a chance both teams will have 49 wins at the end of the night and brooklyn swept them in the season series and I always thought the first tiebreaker was H2H

Tiebreaker could be better conference record. I'm not sure if that comes first or if its h2h

It really depends on the last game played by each, but if Brooklyn wins, then they finish 49-33. Now if Indiana loses they finish 49-32. In the worst case scenario, however the worst Indiana could have finished would be 49-33, but Brooklyn owns the tie-breaker. Right now the baller it looks confusing because the Pacers are ahead in the standings only because Brooklyn is shy one game and the Pacers are shy 2 games. After that last game is over I think Brooklyn is going to own the tie breaker and Indiana is going to be bumped down to the 4th seed. We just haven't seen the changes in the standings yet because the standings are slow to post based on recent announcements and rulings

The tiebreaker starts with head to head games, I counted Brooklyn wins against Indiana by 3 and didn't find the 4th, so even a 3-1 gives Brooklyn the edge. If that was 2-2, then they would go to the conference record

Bk, you were right and if im Nets fan, I would be pretty mad right now and wonder why the nba cancelled it and said it wont effect the seedings. They should of rescheduled it.

Not true the first tiebreaker in terms of playoffs seeding is division winner. Since Indy won the division, they get the tiebreaker. If neither team was a division winner then it would be a H2H tiebreaker

I remember you from CBS. It seems as if Sman is fine with the new CBS so hopefully he stays here. He will not last long here because trolls are not accepted

Yep, you are right Bk, the Pacers do on the tiebreaker by being division leaders.

Heatmyshorts has already joined, but the nice thing about this page is that you can go to the top left hand corner, click on user cp and then edit your ignore list to include heatmyshorts and sman if he joins. Then you don't see anything he posts.
