I like that, but I think it's still too much for Dupuis and Rupp. I also want Tangradi in the lineup somewhere. Before the concussion he looked like he was figuring it out, and he's got size. Maybe stick Tangradi on that third line instead of Dupuis and bring back someone cheaper than Dupuis for the depth forward position. We could save upwards of an extra million that way, which would be huge at the trade deadline if we needed a piece.

I assume since we gave Adams a 20% raise... a 20% raise for Dupper and Rupper would be the offer... I guessed at what 20% would be, but I think I'm pretty close. Dupuis is a guy that can play on all 4 lines. If a top line winger gers hurt, he can play, Tangradi, probably not yet... Dupper's ability to PK and play on all lines still makes him valuable.

Rupp adds a physical presence.. but if I had to pick one to sign so tangradi gets ice time, I would still sign Dupuis. Tangradi on the 4th.

Adams got a 20% pay raise because he was underpaid before that. I'd keep Dupuis at his current salary if we bring him back. Same with Rupp.

Ha.. Rupp and Dupuis probably think they were under paid as well... I hear you though... a little high for me too... but not absurd. And the stability they bring is good... next year, the only FAs would be Kunitz, Neal, Tangradi. If the Pens can manage about 2 million in cap space this year, then for next year, Kunitz not resigned, saving an additional 3.75 million (5.75 total) Tangradi/Jeffery should be more experienced and able to play top 6 next year. Despres for Nisky next year saves about 800K (6.5 million) and if the cap goes up again, add that to available cap space, and the Pens would basically have everyone signed for next year... this is all adding up for the following year, Sid's and Staal's FA years... the Pens will have about 9 forwards as FA that year, and having an extra 5-6 million to resign Sid and Staal will be key. So lock down stability for two years, have no real FA next year, allow Kunitz to walk and allow the cap to increase. It makes sense in my head.

Long term that does make sense. And I'm okay with Rupp and Dupuis back on 2-3 year deals, but if we get them back for no more than very slight raises, like 1.5 for Dupuis and 900K - 1 for Rupp, we're in an even better spot. And given how low Adams's contract was before his raise, I don't see Rupp and Dupuis looking to him as an indication of their own raises.

I do think Tangradi and Jeffrey will need to get significant playing time next year regardless of what line they're on. We're going to want to bring back Neal, Crosby and Staal, I'm sure, when their contracts are up. But Neal will likely be due a raise when his contract's up, I think Staal will get a small raise, and Crosby's already earning less than his production, and he knew that when he signed that deal, so we'll see what happens there. I almost feel like he'll ask for the same money on some superstition that his cap hit should be his lucky jersey number. Just a hunch, though.

The Isles have two guys they need to sign this offseason as RFA's.
Josh Bailey & Blake Comeau.

I would give Frans Neilson a contract extension. Somewhere in the 5 years 10 million range. Around 2 million per year. That's a big pay raise considering he's going to make 550 thousand next season.

I wouldn't trade any of my young talent on the roster or in the system at this point. The Islanders are still in rebuild mode. Besides I don't believe in acquiring RENTALS. That means I don't want guys like SEMIN & HEMSKY.

Then I would just wait until July 1st & see how things shake out. I'd make offers to Erhoff, Pitkanen, Babchuk & a few other defenseman. I would definately go after Ville Leino & Brooks Laich.

Well the Habs have been pretty active so there is not too much left to be done. Its going to be pretty much the same team as last year and with the injuries they had I can see why.
I'd resign Gorges and make an offer to Wiz, though there may not be room on the roster for both. Then I'd pursue a top 6 forward.

If I could take over for Ray this is what I'd do...

Pray that Sidney Crosby comes back like he was never absent. Keep a close eye on Evgeni Malkin and his balky knee, and also make sure that he comes back next season with some fire and tenacity in his game. for the Penguins to dominate play, Malkin cannot play any less than all-star calibre for the entire season. Geno's just too expensive not to put up 30+ goals and 65+ assists.

Sign Rupp and Dupuis and wave goodbye to the rest of the FA crop, including Tyler. Mario apparently has had some convo with Jaromir... I'm thinking 66 can talk 68 into finishing his career where it began, and do it on the relative cheap. Jagr wouldn't be contemplating a return to North America for the $$$. He wants a title shot.

Neal/Crosby/Jagr
Kunitz/Malkin/Dupuis
Tangradi/Staal/Johnson
Rupp/Letestu/Adams
Cookie, Jeffrey

Defense is set all the way to seven, so nothing to see here, same with the goalies.

It seems appropriate that Calgary has a fire sale, everyone and everything must go...

/I'm kidding (sort of), just didn't like having to include the 2nd round pick in that Regehr trade to the Sabres.

If I were GMGM, then I would:
-Trade Poti/Schutz and Semin for Prospects/draft picks
-Resign Brooks Liach (up to 4.5M), Brouwer(around 2.5M), and Alzner(hopefully around 2.5M, but up to 3M), and Boyd Gordon (close to 1M)
-Sign Brad Richards(up to like 9.8M cap hit)

So, our lines would be as followed:
Ovechkin(9,5M)-Backstrom(6.7M)-Liach(4.5M)
Fehr(2.2M)-Richards(9.8M)-Knuble(2.2M)
Chimera(1.8)-Johansson(.9)-Brouwer(2.5M)
Beagle(.5M)-Gordon(1M)-Hendricks(.8M)

Carlson(.8M)-Alzner(2.6M)
Green(5.2M)-Schutz(2.7M)/Wideman(4M)
Erskine(1.5M)-Wideman(4M)/Poti(2.8M)

Neuvirth(1.1M)
Holtby(.6M)

Leaves us with 3M-3.3M in cap space, more if we could sign Richards for less, to fill out the rest of our roster. Might make it tough to resign some guys in the offseason, but there are enough guys in that'll be FA's next offseason that I think the risk is worth it.

Edit: I know it won't happen, but I'd sure like it to

Step 1: Sign Deboer or Eaves
Step 2: Resign Parise
Step 3: Laugh at the teams trying to sign Richards to a 10 year $100 mil contract and Kaberle to a 8 year $60 mil contract

JvR-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Versteeg-Schenn-Simmonds
Powe-Betts-Nodl

My moves: Resign Leino, Simmonds, Voracek. Try and move versteeg. Sign Scottie Upshall. Look for another center.

Outside looking in: Jody Shelley, Carbomb, possibly Powe

Can I make a list of teams I want Richards to not go to? Okay...*clears throat* Flyers, Capitals, Boston, Montreal, Tampa Bay...hmm, well, any contender in the East. :)
