play Griess? what about other players, who is scratched etc? want to hear some feedback from folks!

p.s. just curious if anyone has knowledge of what impact Doug has on who Tmac plays, do GMs tell the Coaches who to play or not play? just wondering cause after seeing Moneyball it got me to thinking about the interaction between the coach and GM...

If I was TMac id give myself a swirly, admit I never had any coaching skills & was just handed a talented team what couldve been successful with a blow up doll behind the bench. Then id turn in my resignation papers to DWil, then Id invite DWil & the rest of my coaching staff to play in traffic with me...

If i were Tmac,

1. I would first put galiardi on a line with clowe and cooch and demote wingels. Galiardi is the only bottom 7 forward on the sharks to show top 6 potential, so I'd give him a real chance.

2. Bench Dominic Moore. It's just not working with him. they are 0-8, and last game he blocked 4 shots, The SHARKS' shots, and had a mysterious Turnover directly for a goal. This after being out there and poor defensively for the GTG in dallas and then sucking in SO (along with everyone else). In his stead, I put in ferriero, who has as many goals as as shark bottom 7 including mitchell, zues, etc. Ferriero plays with energy and can actually finish now and then.

3. Pray. He knows he has 5 forwards and 2 defense who can score. That means about 35 minutes out of 60, he has a scoring threat out there. He is basically trying to score 3 goals in half the game since none of the forwards or D are going to provide anything offensively. I would also give $100 to anyone who gets a goalie interference penalty for crashing the net. When was the last dirty rebound/loos puck in the crease goal these pussies have scored?

4. Give Dougie the middle finger for leaving you so threatless, and then quit before you get fired at the end of the season.

How long is this going to go on? The only thing that makes Moore (and TJ and Winnik) different is the Sharks were losing without him before they were losing with him. There's plenty to focus on if you don't think he's contributing enough to the scoresheet (misguided as that would be in it's own right) so just focus on that unless, of course, you're going to give Moore all the credit when the Sharks finally win a game.

At this point, Todd should call out the top players in the media. Blast them as if his job depended it on it cause I think it does. If he continues with the "we have veterans and they know what needs to be done" crap, then it's obvious he doesn't understand the seriousness of the problem at stake. If Todd throws them under the bus, one of four things can happen:
1. The top players get mad and tune him out. The team continues to lose and Todd is fired for hurting the players' feelings.
2. The top players get mad, rally around each other and start playing together. The team rallies to make the playoffs, but Todd is fired for hurting the players' feelings.
3. The top player's shrug it off cause it's no big deal. The team continues to lose. Todd is fired for hurting the players' feelings.
4. The media is shocked by the blame placed on the players and starts to side with Todd because, holy shit, I think he has a point. The team continues to lose and Todd is fired for hurting the players' feelings, but the seed is planted that these players don't give a crap on most nights. Media pressure flips a switch in their heads and we see something we've never seen before out of these players next season. (I will also win the mega millions jackpot if this happens.)

Bench White, leave the rest alone. You are not going to make drastic changes this late in the season.

This team lives and dies by it's big salaries. Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Boyle, and Niemi account for almost 30M (a couple million shy of half of the teams cap space). This limits the depth the Sharks can have. When the top line plays well the team looks great, when they don't the team looks like crap. A few guys have an off year and the team suffers. It's the shortcoming any top heavy team has.

 If I were TMac I would try these line ups.

You have Speed, defensive minded players, and scoring pop from any line. "Lol, scoring pop"

Galiardi, Thornton, Pavelski
Couture, Marleau, Mitchell
Clowe, Moore, Winnik
Desjardin, Handzus, Wingels

Boyle, Vlasic
Burns, Demers
Braun, Vandermeer

Griess

White, *Murray, Niemi, Winchester, Ferriero riding the PINE!

* I wanna see him at 100% health, I still think he is still hurt and that extra padding he is wearing is bugging him.

If I were TMac, I would go to my local grocery store and ask them for a bunch of empty boxes. Then I would go home and start packing because in a month he is going to be looking for a new job in a new city. BUH-BYE!

he asked a question of what I would do if I were tmac and I answered it. I know you think Moore is fine and many others on the board too. I have seen different and I personally think is is largely responsible for the last two losses (bad D at the end in Dallas, and bad blocking shots and then TO in Phoenix). If he plays well, Ill credit him, if not, I'll continue to call it as I see it. if he scores a hat trick and plays good D and ends up a +3, then great. If he's another -1, with a bad turnover or misplay toward a goal, then I'll be on him again.

BTW, moore isnt the only target I have. I think very little of him, wingels, mitchell, handzus to name a few as well. Wingels is still really young but when it comes to actually producing, it simply isnt happening for him yet. he has 6 points in nearly 30 games and a -4, and this is with much of the time with respectable linemates. We all know my feelings, shared by many on the board, of torrey mitchell and I was quite disgusted by the handzus signing right away, and was called an idiot because "he is one of the best PKers in the league". No, he's an over the hill veteran who is overpaid by 1.5 million by a desperate GM who overvalues his veterans.

Patty, who I have been down on on many occasions is criticized frequently across the league. However, when he tries hard, he is quite effective and I give him his due when he deserves it.

Criticizing a specific player or players because I perceive them to suck is what a message board is for.

lastly, the sharks were much better without Moore. They werent exactly dominant, but not that bad. They made the deal prior to the tampa game. Even including that OTL, they were 5-3-1 in the previous 9 games or going back further, they were 12-6-3 since jan 1st up until the trade. All of that time was also without Havlat, so no difference there.

Im not declaring that Moore is the cause of their downfall or anything, and clearly the decline of the top 5 has hurt, some specific injuries to clowe and cooch, and the loss of ginner have all played a large role. that said, I feel that moore has hurt the team more than helped, and detracted from the offense while not being all that stellar defensively either (he's a minus in 3 of the 8 games he's played). Im just not sure why everyone is so in love with the guy? So his FO% is good. its still lower than pavs or jumbo. His PK work is good, except hte teams he kills penalties for suck on the PK. He helps the team, except he has played on losing teams the vast majority of his career. Perhaps all coincidences, and perhaps he is the mysterious diamond in the rough... OR... perhaps all of the negative results that seem to surround him are somehow related to his own play.

My guess is that DWil much more control over the coaching aspect of the Sharks than he should have. I'm obviously not in the know about this, but I just have a gut feeling that Wilson is extremely egomaniacal and wants things done his way. Unfortunately Wilson's way has not resulted in a Stanley Cup in San Jose.

Actually you've made that connection a number of times, and that's what I was responding to each time. There is no amount/form of analysis that is going to convince me that one player is responsible for a team slide, especially when he's as small a part of the team as Moore is and considering the fact that the slide began before he arrived. I can only speak for myself, but I haven't seen anyone who is "in love with the guy" only a few who seem to dislike him for reasons I can't understand, and only one who thinks they can explain it.

You can criticize him all you want. I think I've only posted in response to correlating team record with him and posting mis-information about him. Nothing more.
