i guess it would depend on the number he wants.. if he wants like 4-5 mil/per over 4 years i say no way.. but if its around 3 i think i'd take the risk.. dude is a warrior that has skill.. its a rare combo

I'd do 4 mil for doan he's an honorable dude. That's half as much as parise!

Now that it is over...

LOL @ the Pens downgrading from Staal to Sutter and dumbing Michalek for nothing.

And now we go hard after Doan and Semin. I see the Wings paying a lot for Carle, and it wont be worth bringing him back.

LMAO @ Parise and Suter ..... way to fuck your chances of a cup.

Homer should be hitting up the phones for Ryan/Doan pretty hard today.

Yeah, I just don't get it. Minnesota hasn't even made the fucking playoffs since 07/08. How do either of them expect to win the Cup anytime soon? They now have over $35 million wrapped up in just five players and look weak on defense even with Suter. In comparison, we're paying over $8 million less for our top five players. I'm mystified.

They are both there for the rest of there careers, and Minny has good young players coming in with Grandlund and Coyle to name 2. D is also not a problem in Minny and never has been, they need scoring and now a 1-2 punch in koivu and Parise with a great D system and Backster in net, this team is gonna be huge contenders.

I also gotta say I'm happy for them to, they sellout, have a loud crowd, and Minny is a hockey hotbed in the USA. The fans there deserve this.

Also this severely weakens the Devils, and the Pens missout to.

In addition to what TK said (nice post btw Timmy), Parise is headed home. And the very fact that Parisuter signed there gives the franchise more respect among OTHER free agents, who now know they might have somebody decent to play with and might not demand the Wild overpay to land them. I think it's a good move by both sides. A bit of a risk to Parisuter's cup winning chances, because no doubt they won't win it the next two years or so, but again, Parise's going home, and Suter is set for cash for a looooooong time. And a bit of a risk to the Wild if one or both get injured/regress, but they aren't the Flyers or Wings - they need to play a little risky to accelerate their rebuild.

Did they ever....lol

20-7-3 through the first 30 games, then 15-29-8 through the remaining 52 games.

I just don't see this team suddenly being a powerhouse via two big signings. They're still going to be counting on guys like Heatley, Brodziak, Setoguchi, Cullen and Clutterbuck to score. They're also asking a lot from some young, inexperienced defensemen. I feel like it's still going to be a project and they're not winning a Cup anytime soon, let alone even getting to the finals or conference finals.

It's just amazing to me that the top two free agents would essentially work together to get identical deals with the same non-playoff team. They are getting paid, yes, but to play for a below average team in a freezing cold area. What the fuck!? lol

I understand that this is where Parise is from, but that's all he has going for him. He could've gotten more money with a better team and be far more assured of a Cup in the near future.

With all do respect, the Wild are a losing franchise up to this point.

11/12: 12th place
10/11: 12th place
09/10: 13th place
08/09: 9th place
07/08: 3rd place
06/07: 7th place
05/06: 11th place
Lockout
03/04: 10th place
02/03: 6th place
01/02: 12th place

So, playoff appearances in 3 of the last 10 seasons, only one of them as a division champ. Both of these players have moved from winning teams to a losing team.

lol Maybe in half a dozen years we'll be celebrating America's hockey team, the Stanley Cup Champion Minnesota Wild.

ok now to concentrate on Ryan or Doan

IMO take Ryan over Nash-cheaper,younger,and scores about the same as Nash.
As for a d man, looks like they'll have to trade as Carle will want too much.

Meh ..... had they signed with us (or PIT/DET), they would have made any of those teams much bigger contenders than the Wild.

Minnesota are not in win-now mode, and will end up having cap trouble before they are able to build a legitimate contender.

We will have nothing to do with Nash unless CBJ lower their asking price. What they currently want for him is laughable at best.

I'd be content to go after Ryan, and, as someone already mentioned, JBo (yeah, I said it). The latter is a low-risk, high-reward move. He will not be asked to be a top-4 dman, and, if it doesn't work out, there are always a team or two battling the cap floor that would take him.

From want I understand, he would like to finish his career there, but he wants to see about the future direction of the Yotes after the July 9th vote.
