The more i think about it the more I agree with awaz in regard to Suter and Parise. I don't want either one. I'm still wanting Bobby Ryan and possibly resigning Carle. If we can keep both Coots and Schenn then we are solid. Question is can Homer pull this off w/o giving up any of these guys mentioned? I think he can.

and i dont know why i'm saying this, but i actually think semin, at the right price and duration, would be a good gamble.. it really goes against everything i like in a hockey player, and i know he'll end up just like jeff carter, frustrating for 3 months and all-world for 2 weeks (after we've clinched a playoff birth, or at some other point in the season when it doesn't matter).. i just have a feeling that he might be an ok signing.. i think he'd be dynamite with giroux..

oh ya i'm not going to fight that one at all.. matt carle at anything more than 5 is probably not a good deal, and anything over 5.5 is just a terrible idea

this is what still kinda irks me about the flyers taking laughton over maatta.. to get a solid top 4 guy on a decent contract, you either have to draft him or acquire him while he's still RFA eligible.. otherwise you just pay out the ass for these guys.. the quality of play between a #1 dman and a top 4 guy is much wider than the 2ish million in compensation difference

this is where i think homer is fucking up big time.. i dont think suter is coming to philly.. i've never thought the flyers even had a decent chance.. and there's so many players involved that i think its silly if he's just there to drive the price up

i dont think losing matt carle cripples the team, but like you said, he played a lot of minutes (led the team in ATOI) that cant just be replaced.. and from reports out of toronto, i dont really trust schenn to play a top 4 role next year, but i also dont trust him to play with bourdon (or gust).. i really think the flyers need to sign another dman, whether its carle or somebody else.. and a lot of guys that were affordable (overpaid still, but affordable) have already signed.. i think souray would've been an ok fit, garrison would've been a good choice.. i would've liked allen.. sami salo would've been a wise move i think.. all those guys signed while homer was diddling around w/ parise and suter who really dont seem likely to play in philly, and never really have

IMO the teams that 'win' this free agency, will be the teams like carolina and dallas who said 'fuck it' to parise and suter and did damage while everyone else was oggling to wonder twins

i just think it'd be interesting to see what him and giroux could accomplish.. and by 'the right deal', i'm talking like 3-4 mil for 1-2 years.. which he probably wouldn't take considering i'm sure he could get 10+/year in the KHL (if radulov got 9) and i'm sure there are quite a few teams trying to get to the cap floor that would sign him to 5-6+

As of now I think it's just Philly and Buffalo who want him badly. I can see Detroit and possibly Pitt, NYR going after him if they don't get Parise. Just wish Homer would take the offer off the table if these guys wait longer.

Selanne would be an upgrade to Jagr if available, Jagr wants 4 mill for 1 year, and that would be fine if he didn't have a gronic groin issue. Lets him go to Edmonton and try and get Selanne and Doan.

Well...honestly, I wouldn't be too shocked if it did happen and realistically...don't do anything.

Yes, that takes bigger stones than rushing out and spending $$$ and trading players and ...just don't do anything. Let the young team try to move forward knowing that Pronger is gone and that Jagr is not there. Let Schen and Voracek(once they sign him) and Cooter and Read get real time on the top two lines and PP. Evaluate then. Right now just mentioning trading anything more than sloppy seconds for JayBo is making me crazy. And "four years is not too much" for Doan.

Do nothing...bank the cap space...wait and see...
