Again you are listing role players while I am talking about the players who really turned this team into playoff contenders, you know the top players on this team that I already listed who were here before SM. Those are the players most responsible for the turn around. That's kind of a no-brainer.
i am talking about all of them

We are 2 years in. In your estimation what do you consider a fair measure of how many immediate 'impact players' a GM should be able to bring in during 1 year? Scot has always maintained a 4 year plan for true impact to be seen on the field. I get the criticism regarding FA signings but in terms of the draft, I'm still happily on board and optimistic to see more contributions as we roll into year 3. Not to mention the extra draft picks we have next year.

I'm not trying to slam SM, said he has my full support. Just disputing Dad's claim that SM is responsible for the back to back winning seasons. Most people agree the biggest reason for sucesss was not Mason Foster, it was Kirk. Next were his targets as well as improved pass protection. Kirk, evety main weapon but Crowder and 4/5 of the starting OL was already on the roster so crediting SM for this turnaround is nonsense IMO. We should be crediting Shanny for drafting Kirk, Reed and Trent and thanking every GM in the league that they didn't offer a third for Cousins

There can be no doubt that with nearly the same players they finished 4-12 prior to Scott. So let me ask this; If you remember there was great unrest, lack of accountability and general upheaval before SM was hired. However with his arrival nearly all of that changed. How much do you credit him for that?.......AND.......How much do you believe that changing all of that related to wins and losses on the field? Thanks!

Oh I didn't think you were slamming him and I think there are areas that Scot has definitely come up short on. I don't believe anyone is above critique...that includes our QB btw.

was just curious regarding how many impactful players you thought reasonable to expect with a successful GM per year from the draft. Know already your stance on waiting 3 years to make a reasonable assessment (and agree) just don't understand how we can fairly judge as we are currently sitting 2 years in.

Some good points.

Personally I'd have to add the impact of The Griffin departure - which continuously stoked controversy, intentionally or not.

Again I am not judging him, I'm just not ready to give him credit for the play of our best players because the vast majority were already here. The decision to move on from Griffin and with it all the noise really rests with Grudog more than GMSM

Correct, however if I'm not mistaken it was the SM plan that the organization ultimately followed in both sitting him and releasing him. I could be wrong on this as I can't remember if that plan was already in the works when Scot was hired.

Doh!! Sometimes with my misfiring old man recall lobe, I wonder if I would not be better off sitting on a bench tossing breadcrumbs at pigeons!

And what exactly are the Skins asking of Cousins?

Perform at an elite, without a run game.
Produce comeback wins when the defense chokes.
Make the playoffs, and be willing to be paid less than market value.

Off the top of my head, Rogers and Brady do at least 2 of 3 without blinking.
