If Panthers get #1 pick

If the Panthers get the first overall pick they are screwed. They just spent a #1 overall pick on a QB and have a Pro Bowl LT.

And it is looking like the Top 6 Prospects will either be a QB or LT...

I'd go with Andrew Luck and trade Cam Newton for whatever I can get. I don't think Newton will amount to anything in the NFL, though, so obviously they will look at it differently.

If Luck goes #1 next year he'll command $25m guaranteed. Some reports have Carolina ~ $1m over the cap (including the $3m loan, which equals ~4m over).

Newton’s contract is $22m guaranteed, so unless Carolina wants to bet the stadium on Luck, I think Andrew is more valuable to them on some another team.

Carolina trades the pick to the highest bidders, of which there will be many.

To be honest, I see them picking Luck. I don't think anyone thinks Newton is capable of becoming a top-10 QB, but Luck certainly has the potential. This also shows how poorly I think of the Carolina front office. Not on par with the Raiders or Bungles, but getting there.
