Agreed. I have no problems playing Duke, but I'm not looking forward to our kickoff game like I have in years past, wish there was another decent game in there. Duke can surprise, so hopefully they bring their A game. On the flip side, I always liked Southern Miss as an opponent, hopefully they show up as well, it would be nice to see them back in 90's form.
You guys really do have a fondness for teams that have a zero shot of beating you. It's like you're stuck in the movie Rocky III only scheduling "bums" and ringers.

If Duke beats Bama I'm gonna buy a fucking elephant and ride that fucker naked down main street in Durham! Drunk of course, but nevertheless naked!

If Bama wins, does that mean you will make the elephant wear clothes?

I know. It’s why we played Auburn last year.

How is this any different than every other weekend for you though?
The other weekends he's just a Naked guy sitting on a car in the bar parking lot and claiming he's riding an elephant, a pink elephant.

News Flash...back in the 90's they played both of us better than some of our conference mates...you played them 4 times and lost twice, we played them 10 times between 1990 and 2000...and lost twice and 6 wins were by two scores or less...as were both of your victories.

It's also way better than your record against us in the 60's and 70's but we didn't quit playing you bums.

Back in the 1970's, before UAB started its football program, and way before Troy and Jax St. elevated their programs from the Division II level, Southern Miss recruited a lot of players out of the state of Alabama and often had the best team in Mississippi. They appeared on Alabama's & Auburn's schedules a number of times and often gave a good account of themselves.

But it was Auburn that played D-2 UT-Chattanooga for four straight seasons in those days while Alabama scheduled only Division I schools.

Dude we played them all the time so I know all about Southern Miss. They and Vandy always played you too close and they would win one out of 10.

Our schedules have always been very comparable so get off your high horse. We used to play Florida, UGA and Tenn every year while you were farting around with Ole Miss, LSU and Vandy. If you're going to remember shit try to remember all of it. We also used to play FSU practically every year as well.

There were a few Vandy teams in the 90's that played everybody close...one of the best defenses in the country...coupled with a high school offense. We beat them 17-10 one year, we scored 10 points on a defensive td and a blocked punt that we went 3 and out and kicked a field goal. they scored a defensive td and recovered a fumble on the 15, they lost 10 yards then kicked a field goal. We also had short field all day.

True. Auburn played FSU on a regular basis dating back to the Seminoles' first year as a major college in 1954. They played 5 times in the 1970's - including Bobby Bowden's first two years at FSU in 1976 & 77 - then didn't play again until the year after Pat Dye became Auburn's coach in 1981. They continued to play regularly until 1990; then Terry Bowden took over in 1993 and cancelled a planned upcoming series. They haven't played them in the regular season since then.

Sounds like Mrs. State too, like I said, closer than some of our conference mates.

Seriously who the fuck thought "we're going to set up our annual neutral site game for Alabama, you know who's a good matchup for them? Duke"?

You know why Vandy's D was so good? Nobody wanted to play offense because you got smoked so all the good players went to the defensive side. Not my words but one of my high school girlfriend's brother who played in the mid to late 80's for Vandy.

Well, they're play who certainly give credence to that.
