b/c its worth the risk. We dont have David Johnson on our team. We have a chance to get a possible stud so roll the dice. have Donald and Ramsey had bigger rookie impacts than Gurley or Eliott have had? NO!!

Rookie defenders have more of a long term impact. I am talking about instant impact.

Thats not true.

And even if it was, wouldnt you want the player with more overall impact. Who cares about the focus on year 1. I get it for the sake of this thread that youre saying Allen would care. But thats not a good reason to make a pick.

You can find almost every position in every round. The difference in a RB at 17 and one in the 3rd round.. for this draft class any way, is likely the difference between a true starter, and a change of pace back..... We got five of those on roster already. If we dont take RB in the first two picks, we might as well not take one honestly.

Im not sure why you keep saying that about this draft class. This class is supposed to be loaded at RB throughout. This isnt the class to argue you cant get good RBs in the later rounds.

that is my point. If Allen feels is job is on the line then he is going to want that instant impact player who can win games for him right now. The draft grades that these RB's are getting look like they would make an overall impact.

Its not loaded with all around backs. Its either a busier or scat back.

If you use the 6 months ago philosophy Griffin wasn't worth half a team to trade up to the No. 2 pick.

Dean...get this through your head.

I wouldn't take McCaffery in the 1st.

It is easy to go with the popular opinion and say three RBs go in round 1. Go out on a limb for once and think for yourself.

Is that really good reasoning? I remember a lot of mocks had Cam Newton going 3rd round right before the end of his college career, and there are probably lots of similar examples.

Never said my logic on this one was perfect. But rapid rises in a short period of time just make me nervous. Especially guys who jump from possible late first round into the top ten after a good combine.

Dean...also Gurley has lit it up huh? 885 yards last season on a 3.2 average. Well done.

7 wins year 1
4 wins year 2...

He is making them much better.

You believe instant impact Trump's long term success?

I am thinking for myself. A RB at 17 will help this team. You can have any opinion you want. Throw any stats out you want.

If you predict a guy that would not get drafted in the first round and then goes top 10 what do you want this board to say? lol

Good vs great then. I think we have a bunch of good change of pace backs on roster now. I want a great starting RB that can I dont know.. .set the pace. I funny that way I guess.

How can teams like the Raiders or Packers pass on Mixon in the late first. Imagine their offenses if he was added. that is why Mixon makes send of us at 17 or Cook or McCaffery.

wouldn't Mixon be the pick at #17? Many posters on here believe in the Redskins dont have a winning season this year that Allen will be fired. So If you are Allen you have the take the best player at #17 that can win you games. Mixon is that player who can win games. Huge red flags off field but what would Allen care if Allen job is on the line this year.

Thoughts

Are you suggesting Mixon would not only be the BPA @ 17, but he would also "save" Allen from getting fired because, contrary to what many posters on here believe, he could at least be responsible for us achieving 8-7-1?

Bruce Allen should be retroactively fired back to the 2012 season. Anybody remember the 36 million dollar cap hit? I'm pretty sure that his job is safe no matter who he drafts, Kirk Cousins contract or how the team finishes this upcoming season. The long term goal is getting that new stadium built in Virginia, Bruce has those necessary connections and his job is safe, at least until that goal is finished.
