Where were you? Up North I'm guessing? We're probably a few weeks away still from having enough ice for my liking

This is actually a couple of years ago. We were on Lake Binder in SW Iowa It's looking like the weekend before Christmas will be our first time out this year.

It's looking like I won't get on the ice until we go to Minnesota next month.

50 degrees here today on January 4th Could almost get the boat out at this point.

I was excited when I actually got out on the ice before Christmas which is rare. But now it's going to be weeks yet before there is good ice again.

Yup. It sucks. I'm just hoping that we can get a few weeks of late season ice in this area. Okoboji has good ice, so far, so that is always an option.
We're leaving a week from today for a week in Minnesota. I have 7 lakes to fish in 6 days. I don't know if I will get to them all, but I'm willing to try.

Just bought new bibs to wear and a nice new rod and reel combo. Here's to hoping I actually get to use them this year.

I think next year we'll do a long 'boji trip The drive up here today takes a toll physically.

Finally getting overnight teen temps here so maybe the small ponds will be fish-able soon. Funny that I wrote above about the brutal cold on 1/1/18. On 1/1/19 I took my Harley for a spin!

We still have open water here in SE Michigan. Weather has been crazy. Probably going to finally freeze over here in the next few weeks. Still no snow on the ground.

Got out on the ice finally yesterday, only the 2nd time this year. Had about 4-6 inches but had only 3 inches a few feet away.

Gonna be brutally cold here this week so it should help

Hit the ice yesterday with my wife, youngest son and future daughter in law,who had never been ice fishing before.
I surrendered my seat in the hut, as well as my Marcum sonar to the first timer. She had a great time, and caught fish.

Pulled this bad boy through the ice on Saturday on a tip-up. All in all, caught crappie, blue gill, and several nice catfish on the day.

Nice. Never pulled a whisker fish through the ice before. I think I've been hooked up with them before but always broke off. 5 times in one day a few years ago. Each time I lost a $7 jig.

Nothing fancy about it. I think I had just like a basic wax tail ice jig on there with a live minnow on a tip-up. Set it up right before we made a move about 50 yards away and about 30 minutes later noticed the flag up. We caught 4 or 5 cats that day.

Headed up to Okobji this weekend to try and get on 'em and have ourselves a fish fry.

Slow. Buddy caught a 31 inch Northern but other than that just perch

Caught several bluegill and crappie and 2 channel cats on my pond yesterday here in south eastern Iowa. Had a good afternoon of it. One channel cat broke my line, had him right at the hole when he did it.

The lake I like to fish is full of medium sized panfish. I do my best to help thin them out.
