Here is how I would make the first move to do that.
Take the season and start two weeks sooner and then stretch the season one week longer. By adding three weeks to the season; The average team could have three games a week on an every other day and multiply that by three and suddenly 9 back to back games of the average team could be eliminated.
Now I ask what would be wrong with that?
