Here is how I would make the first move to do that.

Take the season and start two weeks sooner and then stretch the season one week longer. By adding three weeks to the season; The average team could have three games a week on an every other day and multiply that by three and suddenly 9 back to back games of the average team could be eliminated.

Now I ask what would be wrong with that?

Go back and look at the Lakers record for losses and wins on back to back games, then go back and compare with other teams. Normally it's easier for the rested team to push the ball and get a win. The Lakers, however normally will win one or two of them.

Rested players would mean better games and more competitive

Yeah, and eliminate road games too. Go back and look at the Lakers record, they are much better at home, so they should just play at Staples. maybe they can play 1 or 2 road games against the Clippers, if they get 3 days of rest before.

So because the Lakers are not the greatest teams on B2B the league should eliminate it?

Maybe Phil would comeback and coach if that were the case. Not too long ago he was talking about missing grueling road trips because of his health.

The Lakers could sign Royce White since he wouldn't have to worry about flying to road games.

I believe the Lakers have the highest winning percentage on Tuesday nights. Should the league eliminate the games on the other nights of the week?

These are elite professional athletes that we are talking about. B2Bs are not that big of a deal to them.

It's not about the Lakers - I believe that over-all every team would deliver a better product to their fans if they didn't have to play as many or any back to back games and would put atleast one day between games

We should condense the league so that it is just one big game of H-O-R-S-E.

Now you're talking like an ass like the others. All I am saying is that back to back games hurts the game because when your team for an example has just finished 7 games in 10 days on the road, the team is going to be too tired to play that back to back and deliver a worthy product. What is wrong in stretching the season out by a couple of weeks and eliminating a few of them? Is that really such a rediculous idea?

Well, first off the regular season is too long already. Next, it gives the players less off season, the union won't be happy. Next, scheduling is already difficult with 30 teams, 29 stadiums that are used for many purposes. Having more changeovers on in between days cost money. Longer road trips won't make players happy and owners miserable with more hotel bills and per diems. Lastly, I don't think back to backs are that big a deal. Go back and watch random games blindly; I bet you can only pick out very few back to backs by quality of play. If you want any backing on this you will have to give better win-loss stats on back to backs than just the Lakers or people will continue to think that your just a whining Lakers fan because your tired team can't run two days in a row.

If you want better quality play you should talk contraction so there aren't bad players on teams.

I would like nothing better then the dumping a could of teams from the NBA and shortening the season to about 76 games or even 72. My vision would be to play each team in the other conference twice as it is now - that would 30 games - then each team in your own conference 3 times what would be 42 games for a total of 78 games. Still a lot, but then stretch the season by two or three weeks. The season is too long because the players are worn out. If you give them just a little more rest by eliminating the back to back as much as possible - I really think everyone would see a better product - not that it will ever happen of course

Again, I don't think quality of play in back to backs is an issue. Show some stats that back your claim up. You know, things like W-L, a decrease in the pace of play, increase in turnovers, more injuries occur....anything to back your premise. You just sound like you are saying, "My old Lakers can't run on consecutive days."

If you go back to your own team - go back and count up the wins vs losses on the second nights of back to back - then post them and tell me if you still feel the same way. The Lakers have never been able to play on back to back dating back to Shaq and Kobe, but I have seen the same pattern with other teams as well. In fact the NBA sets up up in my opinion so that the best teams ends up playing the worst on the end of a long road trip and on a back to back - to level the playing field. For me I don't watch the back to back on the second night any more because I already know for the most part what is going to happen.

Well, you lost on that one. My team, the Pistons, went 7-10 on the second night of back to backs for a 0.411 win percentage in a season where they went 0.354 for the season.

That is stretching the season out too far IMO...There is no reason these guys can't play back-to-back nights
