We underachieved this season. We underachieved last season. For some reason we seem to be trending downward.

Next season is going to mean a lot to me personally. If what transpired this year doesn't get Bo pissed off and determined enough to fire up his troops and get them ready to make a good run next season, then I'm going to begin to question if and when he will ever be able to do it.

Another 4-loss season next year will = one very pissed off JJM.

Especially when we return loads of experience

Yea we lose Dennard and David.........but we return so much experience at all other positions. I will be very disappointed if we are starting Juniors and Seniors all over the field and we take a step backward on defense.

What game were you guys watching? I saw a game that for 3+ quarters we played right with a top 10 SEC team. In fact, we played better than they did.

Then we imploded.

Blocked XP=2 points -1 for us
Lost Fumble on the 4 yd line (which woulda been a 1st and goal @ least)=-7 points
INT inside the 20=-@ least 3 points
Hail Mary where Dennard is no where near Jeffery=7 points
Missed FG=-3 points

(end of 3rd quarter was 16-13)

Lets put this in perspective. With all those shitty things that happened to us, take those away and we are winnning @ the end of the 3rd quarter by a score of 27-7.

The problem is everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. It was 16-13 before that pass interference call. When Bo exploded, we just lost all focus & then were forced into obvious passing downs where Taylor is less than stellar to put it nicely. Folks we were just as good as they were talent-wise. Bo let his team down today, no two ways about it. I was hoping we'd compete in this game & honestly thought we belonged on that field. The final score didn't show how we played in this game.

The problem is, all of the things bolded above are things that we could have stopped from happening.

agreed. We didn't get our asses handed to us in that game. Make no mistake. We had enough talent to win, had more than our fair share of opportunities. Our problem is what it has been over the past 2 years, mistakes that great teams dont make. Will we get there? I don't think so with Martinez @ QB. He's a great runner but he cannot help us in the passing game. Dude has 0 lateral ability & cannot elude even the most novice of pass rushers.

i think thats our point...we are right at the edge, but our coach doesn't seem disciplined enough to get us over the edge....

I know most of us - including myself - heap alot of this on Bo, but the real culprit here is still Pederson who killed Husker football as we knew it and it is taking forever with the rebuild especially on offense. F*king asole is sitting there at Pittsburg laughing his asoff at us. This was the first year in a new offensive scheme, but I also question the quarterback situation - something has to give there. But it won't. The O line needs to pull their heads outta their butts for the whole season, and not just a few games here and there. Offensive penalties just killed us this season, and Rex deserves better during his senior season!

These things have been plaguing the football program for years. You think "ok they know what they need to do", 'they've had a month to prepare', yada yada, and they fall back into the same undisciplined, unfocused group.
It's keeping them a long way from being a Top 10 team.

I wouldn't say a long way...we were just as good as SC was. Pissed it away Vs. NW...This year wasn't the be all end all. There was a lot of new shit these players/coaches had to deal with. No excuses, just reality. 39 wins in 4 years is still pretty solid. If we don't take a slide back next year, we'll be fine. That will all depend on our QB situation.

Maybe I have been a martinez apologist, though I think not...I finally see that he's just not the answer @ the QB position for us. I really don't know who we have to replace him unless Carnes and/or Turner have monster off-seasons and commit themselves to winning the job.

We might be stuck with t-mart until he's injured...if that happens, it might be the best thing to happen to this team for the future.

It sure was refreshing tonight to watch two great and very WELL COACHED TEAMS, OSU and Stanford play as opposed to watching that undisciplined and badly coached crapmobile team from Lincoln Nebraska today.

You and I have different expectations........I would do cartwheels over a 2-loss season.........we don't have Weeden and Blackmon on our team to make our coaching staff look like geniuses. Nor do we have Andrew Luck to make our coaching staff look like geniuses.

We don't have those players because we are Nebraska.

We don't, but we have good enough players to see better performances than what we have seen a few games this year. Also, I don't expect national titles either because most schools have never even seen one of them much less 5 like we've seen here at NU.

One more thing... Even if we had Weeden, I bet Taylor would still be our starter and Weeden would never see the field either at Nebraska. Remember Bo thinks Taylor is the best QB in the country. That's what he said about him after we beat OSU.
