Number one job of a defense is to prevent the other team for scoring...16 poimts

Again - perhaps you are technically correct, but this is extremely misleading. The Panthers shot themselves in the foot several times and took pts off the board. They also very likely could have scored a TD at the end of the game if needed (just a few passes to Olsen would do the trick since nobody covered him all nt).

Yes the offense did poorly last nt but so did the defense & they perhaps still might have had a shot if say the defense could have a. not let running backs run all over them on just about every series or b. not let Olsen abuse them all nt. Oh well - I guess that the bottom line is the the D wasn't the suckiest part of the Redskins last nt. Congrats!

Play of the game - Toler applying a major facemask on a RB & still getting abused like a rag doll. I am convinced that some 10 yr olds could have tackled better.

I know but you seem like its all the d's fault
Not at all. Just dont see it as all the O's fault. Everybody sucked. It was just unusual for the O to suck.

Just because the offense has an off day, does not warrant a ticker tape parade for the defense managing to have one of its less than putrid days in a loss.

Nobody is saying we have a good defense. Nobody is saying our defense was great against Carolina.

Going into this game, would you have allowed Carolina's final score to be 19? The answer is obviously yes; therefore, the offense did not do their job.

No one is saying the offense did their job. Everyone just took exception with the proposition that the defense DID do their job. Both stunk. The difference is the offense playing poorly was an anomaly.

Defense gave up 19. They performed well enough to win.
Seriously? They got lucky it wasn't 30. Only because of Car fucked up 4 times inside the 20. The defense had nothing to do with stopping them, they stopped themselves with stupid penalties and a missed FG. Carolina had their way with them. I can't believe we were even watching the same game.

We knew that we are going to get run on. You guys thing we have a great defense. We weren't going to stop them cold but they did enough. The offense did shit. Are you denying this?
Dean, no Redskin fan thinks we have a great defense. If you find one, let me know.

.... the Defense did a lousy job.

you cant blame players for not being capable of playing beyond their skill or ability.

the problem lays with the front office & their lack of investment in the defense .... which has continued for years

My nine year old nephew knows the fundamentals of tackling better than this group has been coached. IM not buying that we have 23 of the least talented defensive players in the league all on one roster. Statistically the odds of that are.... lets just say i think you got a better chance of parking a Hyundai, and having pimp my ride replace it with a McClaren while you were getting a hair cut. All season I have seen this team more concerned with trying to strip the ball rather than tackle. That aint talent... its piss poor coaching.

HAslett was actually better than Barry. He had LESS talent, and we still didnt look this bad.

its the same argument with Haz defense tho ... if they are not going to invest in defense salaries

then the only hope is the defense can hold them to under 30

and expect the offense to score 30+

they dont coach tackling anymore ... the NFPA has negotiated that out of preseason, practice and everything else

Haslett didnt have a Kerrigan, Norman, Baker.

Give Haz what we have know, and we would have had a middle of the pack defense.

If we played flag football, Barry would be a monster DC... sadly the NFL is a tackle league.

Haz had Fletcher ...

bW8fSG8.png

Haz never had a defense ranked lower than 20th while he was with us.

Barry has consistently been a 28, and this year 29th.

Many said it would be hard to find a DC worse than Haz

CHALLENGE accepted and CRUSHED

NO doubt he was off. And your concern about his performance in big games is now becoming my concern. He is such a rhythm qb. When he gets into the flow, he gets real hot. That's why I think play calling is very important to KC. They really need to design a plan that starts him off with easy throws to get his flow going. While those 5 yard out patterns are not long throws in terms of yards, they are very difficult throws. Where was Reed last night (before his ejection)? And not having any sort of rushing attack killed any play action that this offense relies so heavily on.

But this is all a moot point until we can get a defense that can stop opponents from owning the time of possession and forcing our offense to constantly play catch up.

I dont think Kirk trusted Reed at all last night. He was open a few times but didnt get the ball and the one time he did Kirk seemed awful hesitant to do it. Im not sure Reed shouldve been out there honestly, he clearly couldnt use that shoulder for much.
