This is one of the best articles about Jon Daniels that I have read. I do disagree with one part though. The Prince Fielder fiasco was not bad luck. As Gerry Fraley reported once, scouts knew Fielder's bat speed had decreased before we traded for him. That was simply a bad decision on JD's part.

No, it isn't. We really needed those picks to be solid picks, but I think we blew it.

Won't know for sure until they get into games though. 19 teams passed on Mike Trout. Mike Piazza wasn't selected until Round 62, and that was just as a favor to his dad. You never know what you have with a player until you see them in action.

Not saying we found any diamonds in the rough, but scouting isn't an exact science.
