The Islanders have two college players who they drafted in 2007 who apparently could become UFA's in less than 1 month.
W Jason Gregoire North Dakota 3rd round.
D Blake Kessel New Hampshire 6th round. Yes, he's Phil's younger brother.
Both players have just completed their junior year of college. Both have let it be known they intend to turn pro. Gregoire has said he wants a 1 way contract.
They're calling this the Blake Wheeler rule. What exactly is this rule? Why didn't the NHL do anything about it in the last bargaining agreement?
