Let's not start sucking each others dicks just yet on Zito though. If I recall he started 2010 like 4-0 with a stellar ERA and we were trying to figure out who'd get the Cy that year him or Timmy.

We got something better of course but still.

And I realize we're not giving him the Cy for this year yet either. Just keeping it real.

That's true he's got a ways to go before I forgive him for sucking balls forever. However part of me wants to hope he's maybe finally figured out a way to get it done with that slop he's throwing out there.

I'll be happy if he's still going even 6ip 3er style at the Allstar break. If he's still got the 7ip 2er stuff going I might even forgive him for signing with us.

I was a part of the mouse boards back in the day and really enjoyed the sense of history that posters like Doyle, Ram, Byco, etc. brought to the table with their baseball knowledge. Once Dfan was outed by cazic IIRC with his place of employment, that sparked the demise of the most entertaining board I had ever been a part of. This one ain't so bad, tried Runboard as well...but nothing compared to the baseball acumen and overall banter like the glory days of the evil four-letter's board.

Zito doesn't need to be forgiven for signing that contract. Magowan is the one that should be begging the fans' forgiveness for offering that insanely stupid contract : too much per year, too long a contract - based on his last 3 years pitching for the A's. His time with the Giants (except 2008) has been sort of in line with his 2004 & 2006. It was a really stupid move by the Giants. Heck, I was making fun of the Mets based on their reported 5 years/$90M offer. The fault for that contract lies with Magowan.

Absolutely right...no way should Zito be blamed for someone offering him huge bags of money. Part of me thinks that this horrible deal might have influenced the front office into the course of action that led to the 2010 trophy...

...but then again I might just be doing the wrong drugs...

Hey guys, Zito is available in my league. Is he worth picking up or is he gonna start sucking again?

Almost certainly. But, best guess, he will throw a few gems on his way to an ERA of about 4.20. He's proven to be streaky good, so he could string together 4-5 starts with an ERA ~3.00.

Notice I didn't mention anything about the $$ or who was offered what or who did the offering... I was being tongue-in-cheek! I fully realize who offered the contract, that it was (and is) ridiculous, and that he never would (hasn't) and never will live up to it and that no one in their right mind should have signed him for that much and no one in their right mind would turn down such an offer. :drama:

Have a little fun man! We dont always need to be swinging our base-balls around, its tiresome (sometimes), and we might dent that 2010 trophy up there on the mantle! Mind the trophy it's our only one!* *(don't make me put a disclaimer here that I know we've won 6 but the other 5 were in NY blahbiddyblah)

So... I still say, I don't forgive him for signing it! Because I don't! That rat bastard riding around on his goddamn diamond-encrusted unicorn sucking ass for years and years and he doesnt even think of us and consider retiring? And now he actually has the gall to actually pitch well and get our trampled and forgotten hopes all in a bother?! Fucker! He better mean business this time! Or I'll shove that unicorn so far up his ass he'll be eating carrots and sugar cubes (millions and millions of dollars worth, fucker!) :dizzy:
