People are crazy
I probably won't even draft if it's PPR. Not gonna lie to ye all.
It's all backwards and suddenly everyone is going after the WR's.
The beauty about Standard scoring is that it forces you to think. Because there are 100's of WR's out there who can score, but each team in the NFL only really features 1 RB and then maybe gets another one some touches here and there.
There is so much more strategy that goes into Standard scoring. Last year the dude that won my money league picked 10th out of 12 guys. He took McCoy with the 10th pick and then took Peyton with his next pick. It was GENIUS.
That is the beauty of Standard scoring. It's not a race to see who can get the most WR's from the teams who pass the most. And that kind of football is boring to watch anyways. Football is all about the guys up front, and running between the tackles dadburnit! All the flashy stuff is for the kiddies.
Do you normally draft anyways? This league seems to usually have about 50% of the teams on autodraft.
Seriously though, you do sound a bit like that little kid in skool that would threaten to take his ball and go home if he didn't get his way. :P
It's just a difference of opinion on the type of scoring systems. I think your beef is more with the majority of the NFL teams (sadly, IMHO) moving away from running back centered offenses. You want your fantasy playing experience to still be reflective on a style of football that the vast majority of teams no longer employ because you believe (as do I) that is a better brand of football.
My point is that for fantasy purposes, standand scoring is so RB centric, that it puts the teams that are able to draft high enough to get the only true 5 or 6 three down running backs at such a significant advantage over all the other fantasy teams that are only able to draft a 3rd down back or a goal line back or whatever "specialty" back is left because there are so few workhorse running backs left on the half dozen NFL teams that still focus on the run.
I'll play with standard scoring, I'm just putting forth my opinion in favor of PPR and explaining why I feel that way. I don't like that the NFL has become a passing league, but it is the reality of the game and I think for fantasy the 5 or 6 people that can draft early enough to get the only 3 down workhorse RB's are just too far ahead of the pack to make the fantasy league as competitive as desired. I think PPR allows players more than one formula to be competitive in depending on what players are available for you at the draft while standard scoring is more "standard" formulaic in that you HAVE to go RB heavy even though there are no good RB's after the first handful because the style of play in the NFL has changed so much away from the RB.
