WOW
WOW
Missed that.
Something smells like smoke, must be.
Just to state it...
I am NOT in favor of DFAing Huff any time soon. I think he has earned a LOT of slack with the org and deserves every chance to avoid the humiliation of a DFA...
It was when they were talking hitting Craw #2. Tom never pushed him on it, and the interview continues without acknowledging the comment.
You know what pissed me off........?
He stated "something we learned with players of Craws limited pro experience" is that it's asking too much for them to bat 8th in the order. Are the Giants brain trust so unused to young players, and so far removed from the learning process that they've forgotten the difficulties of breaking into a big league lineup?
Other than Evans, who's supposedly super SABR inclined, I get the feeling that the rest of the FO brain trust is super 'old school'.
It's not being down on Nate so much - more about keeping it simple for Crawford. Would rather not burden Crawford with extra baggage by feeling like he needs to change his approach because he's hitting in front of the pitcher's spot.

Well, no one can accuse Bochy of being Huff's co-dependent, now can they?
It could be that direct, blunt acknowledgment by his management and teammates is what the counselor calls for. Just guessing.
Also, let's not read too much into the phrase "crashed and burned". It may not mean he is through. Perhaps just that phase of his life, hopefully.

“Willie, at the end of the year, crashed and burned, and couldn’t finish the season,”
"Torres crashed and burned. We lost (Freddy) Sanchez as No. 2 hitter, and then Buster (Posey to a season-ending leg injury). And (Aubrey) Huff didn't have the year we expected.
Sabean, around Feb 3, talking about why he signed Affeldt in the offseason:
in spring training 2012, talking the things that went wrong in 2011:
Crash and burn is just another Sabean cliche. I mean, at the end of the day, you can't have an interview with Sabes without him throwing about half a dozen of those out. I'd guess, Sabean was simply talking bluntly about what had already occurred with Huff without meaning to imply Huff was completely done.
That said, Huff is done.
Yup, but since one of those guys is recovering from his second Tommy John Surgery and the other was filler in an off-season deal, it seems that Sabey Sabes agrees. Whether he does anything definitive about it, though, remains to be seen.

me without my book of Sabeanisms...
oh well, worth a shot to get anything from Huff this year. Better to make a decision now than play 1b merry go round the rest of the season.
