Houston holds the best record in the NBA . Schedule effect?

Houston is getting done on defense where they clearly lead the league.

While Harden is crazy good, that defense is anchored by Superman and he has elevated his defense and set the tone for the Rockets.

He has 7 double doubles in 8 games. That would be 70 double doubles if he keeps, that pace.

Crazy

Neither are or will ever be known as team players, they will self destruct at some point.

The best record is slightly inflated by a very weak schedule.
They are currently ranked 28th out of 30 teams in SOS.

Playing Philadelphia (Twice) and the Lakers in the first 9 games can do that for a team.

They are good, but they played only 3 teams with a winning record and lost 1 of them.
San Antonio rested all their players for one of those games.

They will still win probably 52-57 games.
But, they will fall a little bit back to the pack once the schedule turns.

yeah i do suspect the schedule is inflated, maybe that explains dwights block rate. I dont know what to think yet immortal about playoffs, except that they are vulnerable with regards to ball control. They need a PG solution

it'd be a travesty if Harden ever wins an MVP playing the type of defense he plays

I would pick Harden over Howard easily if those two were the only choices available to me. You can see the fire in Harden's desire to win. Howard simply wants to have fun and does not have the drive to win championships in my opinion

Steve Nash was horrible at defense.

But he at least tried to play defense....that is at least something.

The results might have still been poor. But there was effort.

Harden never bothers to even try playing defense.

He might be good at defense for all we know. He just doesn't bother playing it at all.

He really wasn't horrible defensively. Towards the end of his career when he got slower he was pretty bad, but in his prime he hardly ever got dominated by opposing guards. Part of that is due to him wearing them out because they could never contain him, but he always stayed in front of his man and was excellent in help defense.

His only problem was a lack of athleticism and in a day where EVERYONE judges defense based off blocked shots and steals he just got that reputation. Anyways, who really plays defense in the NBA these days? There aren't that many defensive stoppers that play PG.

Just heard this and looked at Dwights stats. Howard is the only player to have 6 years of over 60 double doubles in a season. At his current pace he will surpass all (unless Duncan plays another ten), sometime around his 33rd year.

He is the embodiment of a throw back center, rim protector

Marcin Gortat's mohawk/facial hair combo is the real MVP
