Right now they are on a pace to hit 26 homer as a team for the entire year.

I can't seem to find any stats other then the fewest ever hit, 9 in the deadball era, but when is the last time a team hit less than 50 homers in an entire season?

If high payrolls can ruin competitive balance in baseball, what the Braves are doing is just as bad

In a big spot last night, pinch hitter Erik Aybar, batting .167 was their best option

I agree, it's criminal that the owners dismantled a solid team and put out this roster of failures

Eh, it won't last forever. The Mets have hit a ton of homers in the last 10-12 games, but they can't keep that up, either.

Plus, you get to play 9 or 10 times in Philly, that's bound to result in a few dingers

To answer your question, the last time a team hit under 50 home runs in a non-shortened season was the 1979 Astros who hit 49. They had 3 full-time players (Rafael Landestoy, Craig Reynolds, and Jeffrey Leonard) who had 0 home runs. Their leading home run hitter was Jose Cruz, who had 9.

And yet that team finished just 1.5 games back of the Reds for the NL West title, going 89-73.

Hell the 2014 Royals came as close as possible to a World Series win and they only hit 95.

I figured it had to be a Stros team when they were back in the Dome.
That was a really weird place to watch a baseball game, for those who didn't get to experience it. Kind of like having a sporting event in a particularly spacious mall. It wasn't just due to it being enclosed...

Yeah in the 35 seasons the Astros played there, they hit under 100 home runs in 18 of them.

56 players have more home runs than the Braves. As a team they hit a homerun every 213 at bats.
