Tonight they were discussing on thee radio about how Beck and Frost will likely be approached for head coaching opportunities in the near future......

That's when I started thinking........how long will Beck be here? Could you realistically see him getting an offer and being gone after this season?

It scurred me a little bit thinking about it :dhd:

i think they talked about this earlier today as well, and they brought up a pretty good point. we don't have to worry about a mid-major type school picking him up, because they rarely make more than about half a mil. he's making 700k here. for someone to take him away, it would need to be a BCS-level school that will shell out more money, and he lacks head coaching experience. that made me feel safe for a while, at least.

Beck will probably be the next Kansas coach.

If we offered Nick Saban 7 million he'd jump on us like a crack whore on a man with 80 dollars.

We have the money to do it, it's just we have this rare, weird thing called dignity.

but what's better...700k indefinitely (plus he'd get raises) or 2 million for 4 years (assuming they still suck and he gets fired)?

Lol he's not going anywhere anytime soon IMO but....

But if he does that means Neb: won back to back big ten title or national championship

So if beck leaves it means bo finally got over the hump!

I have posted how Nebraska needs to keep Beck. If I was Nebraska, I would offer Beck 1.5 million per season for five seasons.

Right now, offensive skill players LOVE seeing the Nebraska film and hear how the Nebraska offense runs.

If the offense does what is expected of them, I expect Beck to be offered a HC job after this season.

Now the question is, which ones are expected to be out there? Beck ain't no dummy, he knows he needs recruiting grounds. So, if the job does not bring in fertile recruiting grounds(California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas) he won't take it.

In the PAC 12
USC Kiffin is on the hot seat. BUt I think USC likes to hire people associated with USC, unless truly desperate.
Colorado? But it is possible. Pretty campus, could recruit both California and Texas

That was just off the top of my head.

Exactly, why he might bolt at the end of the year. If HC is he dream job, then he is better taking a slight decrease and go coach up Miami of Ohio or Utah for a few years, then he can nice into a BCS job

Not to worry. Beck won't get offered a decent HC job if his offenses continue turning the ball over and committing multiple penalties.

funny RA

I deo enjoy Red Alerts zingers. Good sense of humor there.

But I don't think the turnovers are the OC's problem.

Rex Burkhead hardly ever fumbled.

But, it is a valid point. I doubt Taylor will be playing for Tim Beck at his next job. I think Stanton and Darlington will do a much better job of holding on to the ball.

I think he's on the cusp of going HC.

I don't know his coaching aspirations and that's the main thing here. If he definitely wants to be an HC, then he'd take a Mid-Major job next year (even with the pay cut) and get the experience. He can prove himself there and then jump to a BCS team. But if he doesn't have those aspirations immediately, I could see him sticking around a few more years and building his reputation as a good OC.

Aren't there quite a few other Coordinators out there that are in line for a HC job before him? I think that might limit how high he could go in the BCS rankings without HC experience.
