In the NFC right now, I really think we can probably beat any team come playoff time, except the Packers.

Other teams of course would be tough, I'm not saying the other teams than the Packers are easy, but we could beat them on a good day.

On a good day we would beat any team in the NFC East, the Saints, Lions or the Bears.

when it comes to play offs, more often than not every team has a 'good day'. so if we had a good day but so did they, who'd likely win? "they" could be Dallas, Detroit, New Orleans, or Atlanta.

if we met up with the Eagles again for a wildcard game - even at our field - would you bet your money on the 49ers?

On a good day any team can beat any team. In the NFC West we are def the favorites and the front runners as of right now. Dont envision any of the other 3 teams taking the west this year. As for the NFC, it appears the Packers are in a class of their own with the Saints pretty good as well. Eagles are a dangerous team and although they are 1-4, I still see them making the playoffs. In the playoffs anything can happen. Ask how the patriots felt after their loss the the giants. Making the playoffs is the first step, Anything is possible happen after that.

Yes....the Eagles are horrible. They can't tackle or stop the run.

Washington and Dallas have the top two defenses in the NFC, so they would be a potentially tough matchup, especially on the road. You all play the NFC east this year, right?

Well, it's easier to have less total yard given up when both teams had byes this week. IMO Washington has a better Defense and the Cowboys have a vulnerable secondary.

liar.

the strength of our team is defense, but they shredded it.

WTF...when have I ever lied to you?

I believe our team is improving every week. The Eagles have shown no ability to change their inherent flaws. I think we are getting better and they aren't. So, 3 months down the road I think we're in an even better position.

Ask me after the Detroit game

But the things we have going for us is that our defense is legit and the scary part is they might actually be even better as the year goes on. I would say our defense is second only to the Raven's right now.

The defense ranks 16th in total defense (keep in mind the bye week teams) but that number is misleading when look at the points we've allowed so far. We're 4th in points allowed and the teams ahead of us are on a bye and Detroit which unless they pitch a shutout will be behind us after tonight. And our points per game average is 15.6 only behind the Raven's 14.3

So we have a very legit defense which is one key to doing well in the playoffs.

The big question mark for us in the post season is the offense. We've looked awesome for a game and half so the question is are we turning the corner and building on this or are we just really hot right now and come back down to earth a bit soon.

So I think as of right now the sample size is still too small to get a feel on where the team is at right now in terms of the bigger picture.

Detroit scares me... Because of Megatron... that is one bad man and our secondary while improved definately has its work cut out for it.

Why put the Cowboys ahead of the 49ers? That time is just waiting to implode. They make to many mistakes to be a legit contender.

In the NFC Packers and Saints
Then The Niners, Redskins and Lions so far seem about equals.

What about the Saints?? They are better than the Lions, Niners and Cowboys, and I think they are just as good as the Packers.

Do you guys think that the NFC is just as good as the AFC now?? The Pats are the only elite team in the AFC, I feel. Then just under that would be Baltimore, SD, and Pittsburgh. The good teams but are either declining or still have something to prove are Jets, Texans, Bills and Raiders. I feel the Bills will start to lose some games coming up because they don't play defense.

The NFC I would say have 2 elite teams in the Packers and Saints. Then there are a bunch of teams like the Niners, Lions, Bears, Cowboys, Eagles, Bucs, Giants and Falcons who are good but unproven or inconsistent. Carolina is even showing flashes.

Top to bottom I would say that the NFC has caught up to the AFC, who was much better the last almost decade.

Well, lets say the 49ers win the division. Unfortunately they won't have the same luck of getting Brees and the Saints at home like the Seahawks did last year since I'm pretty sure they are starting to run away with the division, which is too bad... because the wind at the Stick slowed Brees down a lot on last year's MNF game.

All the same though, I hope the 49ers get a chance to revisit this matchup. That'll mean the 49ers advanced to the Divisional round :)
