It's not just the SEC, there are teams in almost every conference that habitually oversign. The difference is almost every team in the SEC does it, with the exeption of UGA & Vanderbilt.

Follow the link, anyone with an average above 25 oversigns a lot.

Not to stir things up but this link furthers the point that it's an SEC problem more than an NCAA problem. Here's the breakdown of leagues with more than 25 scholly's offered each year.

SEC: 7

Team Average:

Auburn- 28.11
Miss. St.- 27.44
South Car-26.89
Arkansas-26.56
Ole Miss-26.33
Alabama-26.11
Kentucky-25.11

Big 12: 3

Iowa St-27.00
Kansas St.-26.44
Okla St.-25.77

Big East: 2

West Virginia-26.11
Louisville-25.66

Pac 10: 1

Oregon St.-26.11

Sun Belt: 1

Troy-27.56

there are 7 SEC teams that average more than 25 scholorships each season. Conversely, there are 7 teams from every other division I conference that average more than 25.

So that's 7 out of 12 teams, or 58.33% in the SEC compared to 7 out of 56 teams, or 12.5% of the other teams listed.

not pointing any fingers at the G's. GT left the SEC because of this among other things I'm sure too. However, the media/ncAA does nothing to single out programs or coaches that habitually do this. It does make a big difference on the field, if it didn't then it wouldn't be so intentional.

I can see overloading with 1-5 guys but not 10+. Look out for TT to be getting up there with the big boys in the over signing lottery with their coach

I think you misunderstood me, we are kind of agreeing. I was just pointing at that teams in the SEC aren't the only ones doing it, and not all SEC teams oversign (but the majority do).

Even though the Big 10 has had rules against oversigning for a long time some teams still do it.

Also, USC his a habitual oversigner, along with Clemson, Iowa State, Okie lite, West Virginia, Oregon State, N. Carolina & Troy.

One thing to point out in your numbers is that the SEC also loses more kids via various forms of attrition than most conferences, therefore freeing up scholarships - enabling them to sign more each year.

I just hate to see how so many kids get shitted on by these schools.

A couple of years ago, a UGA prospect signed with UGA too late, our class was full. As a result, he was left out in the cold on NSD. It was an honest mistake by the kid & Georgia (for not informing him the class was full), but it opened a lot of eyes and as a result UGA changed their recruiting practices and vowed to never oversign.
