Houston WR Coach Mehringer hired as Rutgers OC

UH receivers coach Drew Mehringer hired as offensive coordinator at Rutgers

Pretty big leap in his career path. Hope he does well. Seemed to have done a very good job at his old job this past year.

DKR was not much older than that when he became HC at Texas. So it really shouldnt be too young to become OC somewhere?

Guess the gamble is, it will be his first shot being OC. But if he had a great interview, has good references, why not give him a shot.

Certainly a risky hire. All I know is that our WRs blocked really well and that we had some guys step up in a unit that was much depleted from last year. Does that translate to success as Rutgers OC? Seems like a pretty tall order, but Ill root for Merhinger to succeed.

Seems like these 20 something hires seem to be the way of the future.
