From what I've read, the Bucs seem to think there's a good chance Dirk Koetter (their OC) could be lured away from Tampa to coach elsewhere. Lovie doesn't have the best track record in the world when it comes to hiring OCs... maybe the Bucs front office thinks it's in the teams best interest to hire Dirk Koetter as the HC to ensure the development of Winston.

This one is crazy. You don't hire a guy and only give him 2 years to implement his plan. We've seen that show here. You never get out of rebuilding mode. I realize lovie's track record isn't that great, but you knew that when you hired him. They must see somebody that has become available (Coughlin??) that they have coveted for awhile.

Why does it have to be the hc making the decisions on who to pick? I mean isn't that what a good GM is supposed to do. I get the HC wants chemistry with their coaches but still.

There is a reason Tampa Bay and Cleveland always lose. They constantly make bad decisions. Not saying Lovie is Vince Lombardi but this makes no sense.

Don't know if this is true or not but the OC (Cutter) was supposedly being looked at for an HC position. Winston is rumored to have a very good relationship with Cutter. The thought being made was they cut Smith so they wouldn't lose Cutter. If he becomes the HC that there might be some rationale to that idea. Time will tell.

Lovie's system is dated. His D will put up good numbers, until they go up against a good, smart and most important patient QB. A good QB and gameplan will always beat Lovie and he is the worst "adjustment" coach in the history of the NFL. The word is simply not in his vocabulary.

You know I think if you got the wrong guy you fire him even if it's only been 2 years but I still don't get this one. I mean they won 2 games last year and he kept his job. How was improving to 6-10 in year 2 then enough to fire him? Strange situation. I guess if they want somebody in particular like Kelly or Koetter that's one thing but still seems very odd to me.

You mean like zorn? It was clear he was way in over his head. But Lovie was an experienced head coach.

The only logical thing is wanting to keep Koetter and I understand that logic. I would bet Lovie does as well and he probably stepped aside very graciously. Besides, there will be no shortage of opportunity for him this offseason.

Yea like zorn although it doesn't have to be that extreme cuz he was all time bad lol.

The worst part with lovie is even if I don't like him...the people who hired him must right? So what did he do to deserve being fired after this year? Confusing

A 6-10 record is nothing to be proud of.

Agreed, how ever, canning a guy after two seasons is a sure fire way to put your team into perpetual tail spin mode. Especially if said team has a starter going into his second year on the job at QB. Not saying changes were not needed in Tampa, but firing the HC might come back to haunt them for a few seasons.

They have nothing to lose after two less than stellar seasons.

Lovie walked into a train wreck, then drafted a rookie QB. Shit I get more Bucs news just driving to work than I get Skins news i pay to have access to in some cases.

Lovie might not have been the guy to get them a Lombardi, but Im going to be seriously wondering who they are going to hand that team, and in particular that QB over to.
