Searles did a really good job. He inherited a steaming pile when he came to Texas. His recruiting was top notch. Texas replaced him with Wickline. Wickline is considered one of the best OL coaches in the country. This was not a case of him not being hired, because of his performance.

Preciate the info from you and the other Texas fans (and Awburn). I can understand why Texas wanted Wickline more. I personally wanted Bob Bostad (the old Wisconsin and Tampa OLine coach) over Searles, but Searles was a good runner-up. He's probably more likely to stick around longer than Bostad as well.
