looks like the arbitration hearin begins wed in boston i knowi didnt want to subject anyone on the board to this but the part i found amusing was kovys mother being the source of the information that he will be attending

Did the article read something like, "Insider source Mama Kovalchuk has confirmed to our reporters that Ilya Kovalchuk, the superstar Russian sniper, will be in attendance at the hearing concerning his contract's legitimacy under the current CBA."?

Haven't heard too much from the Sharks lately.

But Q training camps start in just a couple of weeks. My team's first exhibition game will be Aug 21st. Its always a fun time of year when you can goto the beach or do other summer activities during the day then to the rink at night in your summer attire to cool off and watch a game. As much a I love summer and hate to see it come to an end, the one thing I can always look forward to is the hockey season, and or a few weeks I get the best of both worlds.

Also beginning Wednesday Team Canada is hosting a World Junior Development Camp in St John's, Newfoundland. No decisions will be made anytime soon but this camp does factor in to who gets invited back in December and who will ultimately make the team.

Price still not under contract. Louis Leblanc signs with the Habs after only one year in Harvard.

Louis Leblanc is also leaving Harvard to go play for the Montreal Juniors of the QMJHL this season. As far as his hockey career goes this is a good move I think as he will play more games and he will be closer to the Habs organiziation. He may even be a candidate for a last minute call-up on short notice.

As for giving up a Harvard scholarship, I'm sure both the Montreal Junior and Montreal Canadiens have discussed this with him and have negotiated conditional agreements to take care of his education should a pro hockey career not work out for him. The Juniors paid a lot to acquire his rights back in June and he should sell a lot of tickets for them as they try to build a fan base. Historically, the Q has surprisingly been a tough sell in Montreal so this should help. No doubt they would be willing to compensate him for what he is giving up.

Kovalchuk hearing to begin Wednesday in Boston (site and day confirmed)
The hearing to decide the grievance about Ilya Kovalchuk’s rejected contract will definitely begin Wednesday in Boston.

Kovalchuk’s mother, Luba, reportedly told Sovetsky Sport that the two-day hearing would begin Tuesday—according to Puck Daddy’s Dmitry Chesnokov. But I have confirmed that the hearing will definitely begin Wednesday and be held in Boston. A ruling is expected Friday or Saturday.

Luba Kovlachuk said that her son delayed his return to Russia to attend the hearing. Kovalchuk is not required to attend the hearing, in which “system” arbitrator Richard Bloch will determine whether Kovalchuk’s 17-year, $102 million contract with the Devils complies with the collective bargaining agreement or if the NHL was correct in rejecting the contract. If Bloch upholds the league’s decision, Kovalchuk will become an unrestricted free agent.

I had been reporting since Saturday that the hearing would begin Wednesday. I should have stuck by that to begin with.
