Just for those of you curious about the goings-on tonight...

Murphy stopped two shots in NHL debut, but was the goalie of record when Jarome Iginla scored an empty net goal that later became the game winning goal.

Anyway yeah, that seems like a really dumb rule. The guy that caused that crater for the Canes should be the one hung with the loss regardless of the late scoring.

Agreed. I can see them taking a look at changing it after this situation. It should be more like pitching in baseball. If you leave the game with your team trailing and your team never eventually ties it up then you get the loss.

Pretty interesting stat though. My 1st guess was going to be that it was a shootout loss with the shootout goals of course not counting as actual goals. But this is even more bizarre since he literally did not get beat once whether it be actual game play or shootout.

Mike Murphy won't care unless this knowledge starts getting talked about on things like Twitter and message boards. Then this embarassing fact might spread like wildfire.
