Seven observations from Cincinnati Bengals' OTA - ESPN

Everything points to Hill and Bernard being the main cogs in the run game. Which leaves a few questions. BJGE is the odd man out. So what do we do with him? Is he going to be cut. Will he remain on the roster for insurance? Trade? I for some reason don't see BJGE being there on opening day. I dug up his contract

-3/21/2012: Signed a three-year, $9 million contract. The deal contains $4 million guaranteed -- a $1.5 million signing bonus, an initial roster bonus of $1.5 million, and Green-Ellis' 2012 base salary plus workout bonus. Another $1.05 million is available through incentives based on Pro Bowl berths and rushing yards. Green-Ellis is eligible for an annual workout bonus of $200,000 throughout the contract's life. 2014: $2.3 million, 2015: Free Agent.

So last year in contract as well. Going to be interesting to see what happens.

I think they keep him around for the Pre-season, to help the younger guys and all that, add depth during the pre-season, and then he's gone.

veteran presence for a bit.
the bengals like that 3rd rb to be utilized on special teams, so it's a hard fit.

Do you mean gone as in "waived"? With him being in the last season of contract, I don't see much trade value but maybe?

And we all know he's not sucking it up and playing special teams at 2.3 million this season.

They should release him now and give him the chance to catch on elsewhere. Say what you will, he's a pro's pro and deserves that respect.

He's too slow for special teams.

He has no fit in special teams. He's got 0 trade value. He'll be cut/waived, IMO.

I do agree with that, but at the same time you also have to guard against injuries, and you have to figure that they want everything he can give to the younger guys as possible, and for that he has to be around through camp.

Catch-22...you cut him and Hill, Gio, or someone goes down with an injury, you're wishing you had him back, even if he's not the best.

You keep him, and everyone stays healthy and Hill shows he can handle the load with Gio, and then you cut him late, and he struggles to catch on with a team.

However, I think that no matter when he's cut, he'll be able to find some work. Hell, if I were Indy I'd pick him up in a heart-beat. Sit him down with Richardson and see if he can't get something out of him by being around BJGE, teams like that will want him on their team, even if not a starter.

Average running backs are a dime a dozen.... I don't think there would be much of a market for the Firm if he is cut. I suppose it's possible that Belicheck would bring him back in if they had some injuries in the backfield.

He's a solid pro and he isn't going to do anything to embarrass the team or hurt the lockeroom...... Unfortunately he just doesn't have much value on Sundays.

He should continue to get all of the carries because he NEVER fumbles.

I bet a Patriot fan co-worker lunch that he would fumble within 4 games of being a Bengal.
