I haven't been able to see many games this year, but I check the box scores pretty regularly, and there seems to be many more high scoring games than usual. Today, there were two ten-goal games and two five-goal games. I saw another team (forgot who) scored eight goals in a game the other day, also, along with some others being up there as well.

Anyone have any insight into why this is so?

I blame it mainly on the Oilers' defense. :D

I don't think it's anything beyond a fluke. A lot of the top goaltenders in the league aren't playing as well as they have in recent years, and I think that has a lot to do with it.

It seems to also be a case of defensive talent getting shmeared around pretty even-ly, but offensive talent getting bunched up.

I've noticed Dmen becoming more offensive the past few years... The East used to be very defensive-minded, where as the West was always fast-paced offense. Not gonna lie, I like it. More exciting, but the teams wear out quicker... I've seen that a lot this year, defense just shutting down, and leaving the goalie wide open.

A lot of sloppy goals, just putting it on net, and crazy caroms/rebounds.
