Good for him.
One of the highest risk factors for Avascular Necrosis (AVN) is anabolic steroid use. It's not always the case but in a young athlete, it is highly suspicious.
Kind of makes you think back on his road rage, fighting in practice and general lunacy in Ottawa in a different light.
Hopefully his hip holds up and he has grown. He's a good goalie and I'd like to see him do well.
looks like Ducks are close to signing him.
pushing Noodles down to $3 in the pecking order?
You mean the Tabasco Kid? (also known as McBackup)
yeah, I got those Kipper backups mixed up.
In April, he underwent a very specialized and complex procedure that involved removing 13-centimetres from his right fibula and then grafting it to the femur to re-introduce a proper blood supply to the area.
jesus christ.
Wow...seriously I've never heard of that procedure. Wonder if that's a more recently developed one. Makes sense though. The fibula is the least weight bearing of the lower extremity bones, but I don't know how they could re-establish blood supply to the area, because it's just a degenerative thing. Who knows, very interesting though.
They still love Noodles in Motown (lol)
It really doesn't matter who signs him. With Dipietro injured, the Islanders will pick Emery up on waivers.
they just picked up Joel Martin, former Vancouver Giant goalie ... I remember him one time getting lost on the way to Pacific Coliseum for a home game
/this after he'd been on the team for 2 years
