Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames are proud to celebrate the history of its organization by announcing that Flames from the 1989 Stanley Cup winning team will meet the Montreal Canadiens Alumni in an outdoor game Saturday, February 19th, 2011. The historic matchup is set to face off outdoors at McMahon Stadium at 4:30pm (M.S.T).

In addition to the ’89 alumni, original Flames including first Captain Brad Marsh, Calder Trophy winners Willi Plett and Eric Vail as well as Randy Holt, Bob Murdoch, Ken Houston, Kent Nilsson and any available alumni who have made Calgary their home after hockey will be participating in events and appearances in the weekend branded Faceoff in the Foothills.
Faceoff in the Foothills will feature four games; the Flames AHL affiliate the Abbotsford Heat versus the Edmonton Oilers’ AHL team the Oklahoma City Barons at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, February 18th, the Alumni Outdoor Game on Saturday, February 19th, followed by the NHL Heritage Classic- Calgary Flames versus the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday, February 20th. The weekend will conclude with a WHL Outdoors featuring the Calgary Hitmen versus the Regina Pats at McMahon Stadium at 1pm on Monday, February 21st.
“This is about our history, this is about the foundation that Flames veterans have built in our city, this is about our country’s game - hockey,” said Calgary Flames V.P. of Business Development and Flames alumnus Jim Peplinski. “The fact that Flames alumni have led the way in ensuring this outdoor game happens speaks to the level of commitment they continue to display to our loyal fans.”
Tickets go on sale February 1st, 2011. A $25 ticket package will include a ticket to the outdoor alumni game as well as your choice of either a ticket to the AHL game or a ticket to the outdoor WHL game.
