Agreed. But that was one game. Do the Bucs make the playoffs with Rodgers? Do the Bucs make the Super Bowl with Rodgers. This isn't JUST about the Super Bowl. It's the whole season.

Put Jamies Winston back as the starter amd does anyone actually think he takes them there....absolutley not....

Brady took them to the SB.......its just the def played lights out vs KC......

GB was pretty good picking off Wilson 4 times, all in Seattle territory in the NFCG and held the Seahawks to 0 points in first half. Need to throw tds when you get gifts and not settle for field goals.

Amazing people don't connect the dots here

May as well been high school

The Patriots wouldn't have been competitive with Brady. Clearly they would have had to pay Brady more than they actually paid Newton. If they weren't willing to use more cap resources from future years then obviously they would have had less talent around Brady than they had around Newton. That wouldn't have turned a 7-win team into an 11-win team. Brady might have been more important than Belichick. Belichick might have been more important than Brady. Either side could make a case but to say it's conclusive is just wrong. Belichick might have won the Super Bowl this year if he had been HC in Tampa and Brady had stayed with the Patriots.

Shows just how bad Winston was.
Some, but that roster also was upgraded considerably last offseason. Wirfs in the draft, Brown, Gronk, Winfield...

They've drafted tremendously as well after that too and the last several years.

Thought it would be interesting to dive into what Tom Brady actually did by coming to Tampa Bay. It's obvious that he won them a Super Bowl, but I thought it would be cool to dive deeper.

Yeah, we can talk about the big thing, the Super Bowl victory. But he also just set up what the future may look like for free agent QBs. Tom Brady didn't have to leave New England. His job wasn't in jeopardy. He wasn't retiring, wasn't forced out. He was still making the playoffs and winning division titles, so the team was obviously competitive and was also 2 years removed from winning a Super Bowl. It was a choice he made and it was the best choice he could've made. He also showed that it was indeed Tom Brady that made the Patriots the dynasty that they were, not Bill Belichick.

Picture this: It's 2022, the Seattle Seahawks have failed to win a Super Bowl and Russell Wilson takes advantage of free agency for the 2022 season. Who else from Seattle is a free agent come 2022? Tyler Lockett and Jamal Adams. Now when Tampa Bay signed Brady, along came Gronk, Fournette and Antonio Brown. Say a team who's looking for a QB signs Wilson. Along comes Lockett, Adams and maybe 1-2 other key pieces, and it's Tampa Bay all over again in another franchise. This thought process, it doesn't happen if Tom Brady and the Bucs don't partner up this year and win the Super Bowl.

Teams always look for the young QB in the draft, but Tampa Bay looked at the older, seasoned QB and it got them to the promise-land for the 2nd time. Not only did Brady bring history to the Bucs, but it may have just changed the way free agency is handled in the NFL. At least for the time being. Yeah, it could just be that it's Tom Brady and it didn't matter if the other guys signed with Tampa Bay or not, but I'm inclined to believe that this version of the Super Bowl doesn't happen if the other key pieces don't land in Tampa Bay with Brady.

With all that said, I'm interested to know if anyone else things that the way that the Bucs' season ended up, does it change the way that QBs handle Free Agency in the future? Does it change how entire teams handle free agency? Or, was this a fluke year for the Bucs? Maybe this was a one and done type deal. Let's discuss!
Would Tom Brady lasted as long if Jack lambert was on the other side?

Yeah Jason Light ( Pioli's protege) has done a great job as GM drafting . I think the team can be successful for years to come, as long as they stay humble and hungry

You're going to overturn their 24-3 loss to the Rams and their 33-6 loss to the 49ers?
With Thomas Brady as the QB instead of Injury-Prone Cam Newton? Yes.

This argument is literally irrelevant in every single discussion in every single sport outside of a debate of who the GOAT is.

If you're going to overturn their 2 of their 3 biggest losses this season why not call them a 15-1 team, maybe even 16-0? If Brady makes that much of a difference why didn't the Patriots offer him a fair market price and save the money at other positions?

Bucs had a pretty good situation though. Their OLINE was already good, they already had a HOF wide receiver, another that is VERY good, solid runningback who looked to be an up and comer and a middle of the road defense. Brady was NEARLY plug/play. Not many teams are in that situation. It's either a complete shit show (New York Jets) or there's a lot of work to be done on the OL, DL, linebackers, etc.

And then Brown/Gronk signed on for super cheap because they love Brady and that's because they were effectively retired. Fournette was whatever and while he had a decent Super Bowl didn't contribute much (although his postseason was pretty decent, but that's easy when everyone has to account for Brady + 4 either elite/very good weapons).

Not every team is going to be setup like that. If Wilson left in a couple years, ain't no way Jamal Adams and Lockett are going along with him for < $5M a year contracts.

Now the Rams are not a bad situation for Stafford. That's KIND of similar. The Rams have a great D, their OL rebounded in 2020, they have weapons, etc. Stafford is no Brady, but he's not bad and can make every throw. And had a pretty decent career with the lowly Lions.

Because only a very few handful of teams in the last 10-15 or so years have gone 16-0 or 15-1 so it's not very likely. Brady only did it once himself in his career so that argument is invalid.

Look at the last 20 years and you tell me the affect Tom Brady has on the ENTIRE team he plays for, not just the offense. He's a LEADER in the locker room. I would put huge money on that defense not being the shit show that it was this year with Brady as the QB. But, Brady doesn't make magic happen and that team had major flaws this year and they average about 11-14 wins per season so it would've been closer to a normal year for Brady and the Pats than it actually was.

Lets face the truth, you were all glad that Brady left Foxboro...not so much though that he won yet a 7th super bowl, watch who lines up to get a chance for his 8th in 2021...
