Roger Goodell was in the process of sending his NFL apology to Robert Kraft yesterday when magically an illegal Special Teams ball was supposedly given to an official by a Patriots Employee during the AFC Championship Game. Four un-named sources supposedly reported this to ESPN.

If the NFL investigators didn't find this over the last 8 weeks, how is it that these un-named sources knew about it and never said a word?

From my cheap seats, it looks like ESPN is back at making news stories rather than reporting them. If Goodell had any nuts at all, he'd call out the "sources" and tell the entire NFL Office that every job is on the line. Either give up the sources or face unemployment next Monday.

It's really starting to look like more of a smear campaign against the Patriots than anything else. Deflate Gate was found to be a bunch of crap when there was no illegitimate activity and no actual manual deflation of balls.

This "ILLEGAL" ball was supposedly a kickers ball that was not approved by the officials before the game. These ar called 'K Balls' and are marked as such like the games balls. What was wrong with the Ball other than it wasn't approved? Was it made by Nike or UnderArmor? Or was it a K-Baqll that accidentally ended up on the sideline after pre game warm ups and somehow got mixed in with the approved game balls? Or is it another bullshit concocted story???

I'm watching You Herd Me with Colin Cowherd and on the bottom line is this.

"Patriots locker room attendant Jim McNally, who ESPN outside the lines sources say tried to introduce unapproved kicking ball into AFC title game, was handed ball by an NFL official, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports."

"According to source, the NFL official is alleged to have been selling for profit balls that had been targeted for charity. Once it was noticed a ball he removed was missing, he tried to replace the ball via McNally. Source says the official was fired for trying to profit from the balls, and that the exchange of footballs is confirmed on video that is in the hands of the investigators."

WTF! Sounds like a rogue ref. McNally did nothing wrong.

No matter what happens now, half of all NFL Fans will be angry with Roger Goodell and the NFL office. Another quick investigation that has literally turned itself against the investigators. Instead of having the league ask some people questions and then trying to put all of the pieces together, they hire an outside legal firm to investigate the Patriots. The investigation is basically showing that league officials were tampering and stealing the balls. The latest being that the severely underinflated ball was a ball that was switched out for a "Championship" ball.

On the other side of the frnce, the other half of NFL fans will believe that the whole thing is concocted by Goodell because he's close friends with Robert Kraft and no punishment for the Patriots will be the result.

No one wins because the league has so little credibility.

Has anyone been able to follow what the hell is going on? An unnamed writer passes along info from 4 unnamed sources that the Patriots screwed with a kickers ball and tried to get an unauthorized ball into the AFC Championship game. Yesterday, the original writer is identified as a woman sports reporter who is on the NFL beat for SI and ESPN and she's married to some uppity guy in the NFL office. Now it's getting to be known that this guy hates the Patriots and most likely the source of all of the "mis-information" that has come out of the NFL over the past 6 weeks.

Better yet one of the investigative team members says that the Colts were informed of the "Sting" operation that the NFL was conducting at the AFC Championship game to catch the Patriots doing 'something' to the balls. When asked, the Colts GM vehemently denies any knowledge of anything.

When the NFL hears about the K (kicking) ball being introduced into the Championship game, they immediately go after Patriots Equipment Manager, Jim McNally who gave the ball to the ref. When the NFL tries to bring the house down, the house they're bringing down is their own. Because on film is an NFL league official handing the K ball to McNally and stealing one of the official game balls that he immediately puts up for sale on a black market website.
So now the NFL is guilty of introducing unauthorized footballs into the Championship game.

Ted Wells the legal investigator won't admit to authorizing the "sting" and Goodell is totally mum on the whole subject hoping it will go away. Problem is that somebody had to authorize the operation and most likely that is Goodell. The question then becomes, 'What is the leagues main objective at the AFC Championship Game?' Is it to insure that the game is played fairly? It is to insure that the public is seeing a competitive game played on a level field? Or is the league actually screwing around trying to catch a team (Patriots) doing something wrong? Or worse, is the investigative team trying to do something that will make it appear that the Patriots are doing something wrong and actually creating inequalities in the game.

Now the NFL has Robert Kraft, Dan Rooney and Jerry Jones all really pissed off and there are probably other owners who just aren't making public statements. The entire "Deflategate" investigation has been a total farce. The legal investigators have found nothing and league has been publicly embarrassed. It appears that Roger Goodell and more than a few of his cronies may end up getting terminated. Ted Wells legal practice is already looking inept and will certainly lose clients.

The most amazing thing is that nobody in SportsHoopla is even mentioning anything........if there had been any positive evidence against the Patriots, there would be at least 30 new threads demanding the head of Bill Belichick and/or Robert Kraft. NFL Integrity???

In answer to Ken's long message above..my simple reply is No. There are so many moving parts to all this and none of it points to the Pats doing anything to the footballs. It's nothing short of a sting operation that has imploded on the league.
