Oh you mean ILB and safety. Thanks.
No the interior line...The same thing that won us THREE SB's and what we seem to ignore yearly.

Didn't realize he was that old. Probably not.

I said we need LB'S and secondary help too.
But I think our biggest need is on both lines.

Just so everyone understands what FAs will cost, including re-signing our own, I've garnered these numbers from over the cap.com. These are 2013 numbers and ill include the key positions we will be looking for:
Top 10 Mid range
Safety $10M/yr $6M
ILB $10M $7M
CB $12-16M $8M
OLB $13M $7-8M
WR $12-16M $8--10M
G $9M $6M
C $8M $5M
RT $7M $3.5M
So when you start talking about the $32M that we have, you need to remember that we have over 15 of our own that are FAs next year that have to be signed or replaced out of the 32M. Some will be signed for significant raises such as RAK (7-10M), Riley (7-8M), Hall (5-6M). Then we have to make decisions on wilson, biggers, Morgan, Moss, Jackson, and a handful of others. Some will be replaced with rookies. If we don't re-sign wilson, we will need to replace him, most likely at a similar cost in the 4-6M range. Jackson is an interesting case. If we resign Rak, my guess is jackson leaves. But if we don't, we need Jackson. He could garner a contract in the $4-6M range if he is expected to be our starter. So you can see that this money will go quickly. I've seen Dad's idea of freeing up more and its a possibility, but its still not enough to solve all our issues.
I would focus on S and ILB for next year for new players via FA. I would try and sign rak to a 5 year deal in the $40M range. I would resign hall for 3 years for $15M. I would resign Wilson for $3M. I would sign Riley for 5 years for $27M. I would let Moss and Morgan walk. I would pray hard that Hankerson heals for next season. I would pick up a value WR vet at $6-8M for one year. I would also draft a WR. I would go hard after Mack. Pay him as a top Center. I think it was GK that said having a top center is the second most important line position. I would then hope that Gettis can step in for Chester. Licht gets one more year. That would be about all we can afford this year.
I'm not up for resigning guys like Hall at that kind of money or keeping guys who can't tackle like Wilson or Biggers. Moss, it's been a fun ride. Morgan is also on the way out. If you really want Riley around here for 5 years at 27M, then pass the pipe because he is an average LB. I really thought he would bloom into that star type player but now, I just don't see it. I'm more interested in seeing what a healthy Robinson can do with reps. We can clear a lot of cap space by letting unproductive players go and taking a chance on letting Rak go and keeping Jackson which is an idea I like. I like Rak but the money he will want doesn't jive with his production imo.
I know what your going to say, letting guys go doesn't solve our issues with limited draft picks or receiving value in FA at certain positions. Look, that's the GM's job to be resourceful with spending money wisely and drafting wisely. Can't wait to see how this off season shakes out, including in the coaching ranks.
Last year CB FAs did not garner the money they did historically. I think Hall can be had at close to 5 mil/season. I would offer Wilson 2 mil/season, nothing more. Biggers can go or we offer him 1 mil/season.
I'd offer Riley 3 to 4 mil/season.
There is no way I'd pay a WR 8 mil for one season. It's a waste of money.
Jackson will not come close to 4 mil/season. I'd offer him 1.5 and accept 2.
I think that's a fair number. Question is will anyone else pay him more? Are we prepared to let him walk? There aren't many OLBs of quality in FA this year, so he might attract attention and draw a premium.
