There is a reason why RBs don't historically do well after extremely high usage years, and Henry has been stacking them up.

Intelligent post, and I agree.

He's only 27, but the wear and tear a body of a RB like him takes, especially with his style, is insane. He'll be 28 at the end of the season so he's got at BEST another 2 years left in him with the way he runs and how often the Titans use him.

Henry will play to his mid-30's if he wants to.

NFL has changed. It is easier to run the football. Meaning Henry can lose a couple of steps and still be an effective hammer for an offense. He just wont have that breakaway speed that he only on occasion gets to display.

Henry is a different type of beast. Dude is 250lbs. He literally is about 4 inches taller and 40lbs heavier than your average NFL RB.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Derrick Henry (foot surgery) is expected to miss 6-10 weeks.

Rapoport added that a more realistic timeline would be 8-10 weeks but Henry could return within a month and a half if he really pushes it. Given Henry's long-term importance to the franchise, it would be surprising for them to rush him back even a week before he is fully healed. Henry is likely out for the rest of the fantasy season which means Jeremy McNichols is in line for a massive role for the remainder of the season.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Titans signed RB Adrian Peterson.

Peterson will be signed to the practice squad and then elevated to the active roster. Derrick Henry is undergoing foot surgery that will likely sideline him through the end of the regular season. The Titans' only other running back on their roster is Jeremy McNichols, who has gotten some run on third downs this year. He will likely play an expanded role with Henry out but Peterson projects to earn the bulk of the early-down snaps once up to speed. Peterson ran for 604 yards at a sluggish, 3.9 yards per carry for the Lions last year. Prior to that he spent a pair of seasons in Washington and ran well despite playing on a poor offense. The Titans should shift toward passing more often now that their star running back is gone but don't expect them to lose their identity as a run-heavy team. Once integrated into the offense, Peterson should be able to put up RB2/3 numbers as the recipient of loads of carries on an efficient team.

Damn that blows. Lisfranc injury or a break of some sort?

He was evaluated in the first half of the game for whatever injury this is. And still returned to finish the game. I doubt this puts him on the shelf for the rest of the year.
If it is a Lisfranc injury, he's done. Even without a broken bone you must rest or have surgery and rest. Both require rehab.

Not always. I remember Lev Bell suffering a Lisfranc injury his 2nd preseason... He was only out 5 or 6 weeks IIRC.

They "rank" Lisfranc injuries on a 1 to 10 scale. My wife had a 1 1/2. She was in a cast for 4 weeks. Then a walking boot for another 2 weeks.
She was then allowed to walk around the house. She never played football.....

Well your wife didn't have a fully staffed medical team & training room to fast-track her injury now did she? lol.

I remember something about Bell's PT that year involving him picking up marbles with his feet or some weird stuff like that. I don't recall his lisfranc scale.

If they do surgery, they put pins in and "fuse" the joints. You are not playing football in 4 weeks.

How long does it take to recover from Lisfranc injury?

Lisfranc injury can be quite serious and require months to heal. For those experiencing strains or sprains, recovery could take six to eight weeks. For those needing surgery, recovery will likely take three to five months.

As with any injury, following your doctor’s recommendations is an essential part of the recovery process. The recovery regimen will vary from one case to the next, but is likely to involve the following steps:

  • Rest, ice, and elevating the foot will help reduce swelling and allow the body to recover more quickly.
  • Staying off your foot entirely for an extended period (generally six to eight weeks) will give the foot time to recover.
  • Avoiding high impact activities will be integral to recovery and take three to five months after surgery. It’s important to seek your doctor’s blessing before stressing the foot in a way that could compromise the healing process.

So who is lying about Henry?

Schefty or Rapoport?

Schefty say he is done for the season while Rapoport is saying 6-10 weeks.

6-10 weeks means he is back for the playoffs or sooner

I'm sure he's kept himself in great shape, but he isn't going to have that straight line speed or moves anymore. If he has any kind of impact, I'll be very surprised.

I think Rapaport is full of shit, but I always have thought that. If you read @Southieinnc's post above you'll see that surgery typically requires 3-5 months of recovery. Week 18 is in January, which is only 2 months away. If he returns at all it would likely be in the playoffs. Fortunately for them their division is a complete mess so 3 more wins could probably do it.

Eh, Rapoport is usually pretty close on these injury reports, I find. It isn't a Lisfranc injury from most reports so you never know. At any rate, the Titans would be wise to just keep Henry out until the play-offs anyway. They are going to run away with this division and get a home game in 11 weeks. Henry could be back and very well rested amd fresh for a play-off run. There's nobody in the conference that's a big favorite now so the Titans could be in a good position come January.

Its not a lisfranc injury. Jones fracture is what I have read. Essentially broke the bone to the little piggy.

6-12 weeks....WITHOUT surgery. The fact that he went under the knife probably means he is done for the season.
