I like having Ford as the extra offensive linemen. It's rare to find a guy that can play every position but center, but that's what he does. Is he great at it? Not really - But he's a gamer and he holds up enough to not kill you. Just what you need if one of your guys goes out during the game. But we need to raise the floor of the line.... Just not sure that this dude from the Saints does that. Can we just sign Scherff and get a high draft pick? Maybe add one more vet project to round it out?
Literally just posted the same in another thread. Give me Scherff, trade down in round 1, grab the kid from Texas, and then focus on DE/DT/LB/S with the next 3 picks in rounds 2, 3, and 3 with the trade.

Just posted in the other thread...I want Emmanwori now. His size, speed and production at a position that can command our secondary is a necessity in a throwing league.

Agreed. I'm a fan, but I've seen some mocks having him gone even by 17 now...

All the other AFC North teams have their “mutant” on defense. Nick Emmanwori could be that for us. Kyle Hamilton with better ball skills.

I’m not counting on Trey until that deal is done lol.

That said Trey is a monster obviously. So was Geno Atkins. So was Carlos Dunlap for a bit. They’ve had good/great pass rushers before.

They’ve never had a guy like Nick Emanawori could potentially be. Not even Jessie Bates had the freakish upside this kid has.

Clearly you didn't get to see David Fulcher...or play Tecmo Bowl back on the NES...dude was a monster...lol

Difference between a guy like Bates, or Trey, and Nick...2 of those 3 you mentioned have played at an elite level at the NFL level. I like the kid out of SC, but won't put him in that range until he actually plays in that range at this level.

I also just don't see S as a position of dire need. While I agree it needs help, with the amount of talent around them (i.e. splitting hairs at 17) I think there are just better ways to approach it. However, that's the great thing about the discussion - not every angle is going to be the same. Regardless, if it is Nick - I'll be excited. Just as if it's Pearce, or Nolen, or any other number of guys.

I am all about Nick. Resign Trey for shit sakes, and with the additions on the line and guys coming back, I am not terrible upset about our dline. We have picks, and if we can get a vet guard, we only need to fill some competitiveness for the last guard position. Worst case scenario, maybe the coaching staff can move Karras to LG and try Lee at center to see what we have to go along with the vet guard.

I think the position of most need besides guard is S, and I think we can get a good DE/Edge prospect in round 2 as deep as this draft is in DL. Nick of course needs to show what he has at this level, but at his size, speed and instincts, a good coach can mold him into a good safety if he is a willing learner.

the Bengals have that comfort of having the Tag next season ready for Trey.

if he doesn't have a monster season this year, they probably will just use the tag instead of offering him top dog money.

I have a sense that the Bengals are now waiting on the draft to see where they might have leverage with certain players. With Trey, they might want to see if anyone gets desperate and offers a high draft pick. It's pretty clear to me that they would like to trade Pratt but nobody is willing to give any picks right now. Wouldn't shock me to see him moved for a 5th or 6th rounder on draft weekend. I could also see them moving Volson for a 6th or 7th round pick.

Doesn't sound like the Bengals getting value for players on the way out. Haha

To be honest, I wouldn't want my team to give up a first for Trey.... And if I were a team picking in the top half of the 2nd round, I'm not sure I'd want to trade a 2nd for him. He's 30 and if you weren't a playoff team, you likely have other holes to address. So, I just don't see how this works for anyone involved.

As for Pratt and Volson. I can't imagine why anyone would want them. I appreciate Pratt for the big plays he made for us, but when he is disinterested it shows. He looked fat, old, and slow all year last season.

This is all facts. So the Bengals may want to trade them, but I can't see them getting any value for these guys.

Multiple reports coming out that the Bengals are no longer open to trading Hendrickson. They are working to extend and pay him. Would really open up the draft if they were able to do so.
