Breaking down the three Heisman Candidates though here is my biased take (heads up: I'm campaigning for Te'o)

Johnny Football: First the kid has the best nickname in CFB. For him though I will simply reiterate Tubbs post above, as I thought it really nailed it:
I'm not against Freshman or RS Freshman winning the award, but there is a legitimate reason none have, and it's because it takes them a few games to adapt to CFB, while upper classman hit the ground running. Biggest wins: @ then #1 Alabama/ @ LA Tech. Again, I don't think winning one huge game/losing two/ and then beating up cupcakes the rest of the year should win you the Heisman.
Heisman moment: The whole Alabama game.

Collin Klien: Directed another dream season for a KSU team that has been the "AQ bracketbuster" in recent years. Lead his team to a Big 12 Championship, with a marquee win @ Oklahoma(Big 12 co-champ), and vs Texas. However when everything was on the line (first time KSU earned a #1 ranking in the BCS era, maybe ever?), he faltered, and his Wildcats got slaughtered by a Baylor team that had a losing record going into the game. First time a team with a losing record going into the game beat a #1 team. Klein threw 3 picks and rushed for 39 on 17 carries. The 28 point beat down his team received is tied for the worst loss a BCS ranked #1 team has ever received.
Heisman moment: Getting the 3rd down conversion to enable KSU to run out the clock in Norman? (I didn't catch a KSU they won...)

Manti Te'o: Get ready to roll your eyes :becky: The heart and soul of a Notre Dame program returning to the promised land that had long forsaken ND (24 years for those counting). He is the leader of the #1 defense in the land (allowing 10.3 ppg). 2nd in the entire FBS with 7 picks(Lead all Linebackers). Lead the D with 103 tackles. You want goal line stands? Te'o was in on each of the 4 plays ND stuffed Stanford from the one yard line to win in OT. Was in on multiple plays when USC had 8 plays inside the ND 10 (5 plays around the 1 yard line), on a stand that secured the Irish's spot in the NC. Sealed the game with a pick against Oklahoma, sacked Pitts QB in OT when they were driving. The guy was simply amazing in the clutch this year. Last and probably least to most of y'all he had two intercepts and shut down Denard Robinson a day or so after both his girlfriend and grandma died. He is also a great person off the field and is a finalist for the Lowe's CLASS award. Biggest wins: Stanford(PAC12 champ)/@ Oklahoma(Big12 co-champ).
Heisman moment: A tough choice between the Michigan performance, the Stanford goal line stand or the Oklahoma interception. My vote goes to the Oklahoma pick.

Lost all credibility right there. Texas isn't a good team this year.

You have a hard time contributing to your team's success when you can't stay healthy though.

So, he is less outstanding because he can't stay healthy? The two games he missed were Florida Atlantic, part of the South Carolina game and Kentucky. His teams performance in those games compared to when he got back show that not only is he important to his team, but he is a game changer. It's hard to say that because he missed part of a game he lost that he is less outstanding than manti teo.

Well aware of that, but Texas finished 3rd in the Big12 and KSU played no one OOC. So that was my thought process.

He sat out part of one of the 3 big games Georgia had all season. Not his fault, but sitting out when your team needs you makes you less outstanding than a player that played every down he was asked to for his team.

If showing up to big games and playing on the national title stage is the criteria, you could make an excellent argument for Eddie Lacy. Especially considering that Alabama is a 9 point favorite
