You'll get used to it. I did.
If I was only allowed to comment on the Heatley situation...
Who is stopping you?
Go ahead if you want. Just be warned that Kenny and I might attack you.

Heatley wouldn't do anything differently

This one quote changes my tune on the whole thing.
“I think the one thing that obviously was a tough thing was how public it became. I certainly didn’t make that public and didn’t want that and I think that’s one thing that could have gone better.” said Heatley
Sometimes you've just gotta go with your gut. But sometimes you don't and are just a homer drinking the kool-aid.
I think I was a homer when I said there is no way Murray leaked Heatley's trade request to the press because I actually believe Heatley here. This makes me think that when Heatley wrote a letter to Murray telling him that he wanted out, that Murray flipped out and told somebody to try and scare Heatley out of doing it. He responded to it by making the Sens pay the $4 million bonus and rejecting the trade to Edmonton.
I know it seems so sudden that I've so suddenly changed my tune but I think this is actually the case. Murray put himself in the shitty position he was in and then scapegoated Heatley to save himself. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind.
LOL...is what I wrote there what you believe as well?
Murray is looking more and more like a joke of a GM as time goes on. That's why I'm keeping the avatar I have and the signature at the bottom until the day Murray is fired or is no longer the GM.
Practically word for word except for the "Changed my opinion" part.
I am not subjected to Ottawa media, so the first and only person I heard say anything about it all was Murray. The stories that I heard early on was that Heatley expressed unhappiness (and remember this was right on the heels of Jason Smith retiring saying the locker room was "the weirdest I've ever been in".) and Murray took it to mean he wanted out. Murray talked, no one else did. He announced the deal with Edmonton and said Heatley had to waive the NTC. And I thought at the time I had read that Heatley learned of the Edmonton deal from a reporter calling him.
Naturally he was going to say no. In his mind, he never asked to be traded. After the shit hit the fan, he had no choice. He also held all the chips and the Sharks looked like the best choice to go to. Remember all the players at the time? All they talked about is how Heatley was a good guy and the whole thing was blown out of proportion? Now Spezza's unhappy too?
It's all on Murray. The whole thing. Heatley gets a minor for bailing on his teammates, but again I think his hand was forced.
Whew, Brennan and Garrioch have the venom spewing today!!!

Those type of articles will do wonders when free agents are deciding what team to choose to ply their trade. Garrioch and Brennan should stick to be Eklund wannabes.

Good luck Ottawa fans, should be a fun game tonight. BTW, Urkie, Kenny and 43, if you guys want, you can join us on the Sharks SportsHoopla board for the GDT if you guys are so inclined.
Seriously, "selfish suckhole" multiple times in the piece? My 12 year old daughter writes better articles.
It's Don Brennan...what do you expect? LOL
Seriously though, has this guy ever written a professional piece in his entire career? It's no wonder players are so quick to want out when you have "selfish suckhole" writers writing hate pieces on you once a week. Just ask Joe Corvo about that...
Can Murray or the Senators do anything to try and reign that guy in? I mean, that's the kind of article that would make a rational player want out. I'm not taking Heatley's side, I think he deserves to be booed mercilessly, but man who writes an article like that?

LOL.. NO.
He works for a newspaper (a terrible one at that).
I'm pretty sure the Sens can't send a dozen or so KGB agents over to Brennan and/or Garrioch's house to round up his family and have them shipped to Siberia (otherwise known as Edmonton in the hockey world). This Canada and the year is 2010.
The press can write and say what they want. If players, or fans, are stupid enough to take idiots like Garrioch and Brennan seriously then they SHOULD feel bad, not because of what fatso and retardo had to say, but because they have parents who are brother and sister.

Whoa! Kenny, I didn't mean by force, lol. I meant by using money or other incentives. I wasn't thinking it was going to be a Capone style gag order.
True, but to my understanding, teams owners have a pretty large say in how much access they can allow certain reporters/writers to the players. I think the fans should care if it means making Ottawa a less desirable place to play. These aren't bloggers, they are supposed to be professional reporters. I'm sure the players are tough enough to handle the criticism, but I'm sure the players think about their families.....especially if they have young kids. "Daddy, what's a selfish suckhole?"
That's all I was trying to illustrate.
