Denver's not dead yet, but I was saying in September that the defense could be an issue in the playoffs. Sure they can outscore teams to make up for it, but sooner or later they'll run into a team that plays solid defense, runs the ball, and eats the clock, just like last night.

Based on last night I would think the Seahawks would be about a 7 point favorite over the Broncos in the Super Bowl, if that's the matchup. They play a similar style as the Chargers did last night, only they do it much more effectively.

Charger years with Dan Fouts
Miami years with Dan Marino

somewhere in those years, definately.

Fouts first popped into my mind.

At least Marino made it to the Super Bowl but there's a good argument for him.

84 phins were 7th in least pts allowed

in 18 playoff games marino had 32 td and 24 picks with a 77 passer rating not exactly stellar numbers:suds:

My vote goes to the 2000 Rams.

The Broncos D is not very good, I think we all agree. However its probably not quite as bad as it looks. Denver offense is record breaking, teams know they have to give it everything they got to keep up with them. That being said, I do think the Broncos defense will be the reason they don't win SB this year. The game has changed but defense still wins, its why the Seahawks are favored.

It's gotta be them or the 2012 Saints.

Only 3 teams have given up over 500 points in a season

81 Colts 533
08 Lions 517
66 NYG 501 14 game season

Saints werent even the worst D of 2012 Titans gave up more points:suds:

True, but we're talking about a differential. The Titans didn't have a great offense. The Saints scored the 3rd-most points in the league & gave up the 2nd-most points. And they set a record for most yardage allowed (which I admit is an extremely overrated / dubious stat to quote, - yardage given up - but it's something).

...But now that I look at the 2000 Rams it's gotta be them. They scored 541 points & gave up 471.

I was thinking of both of these also. Those Chargers Defenses were horrible.

Yeah I think we have a winner here. There may be isolated single year examples that are more egregious but there were several years where they had the best offense and a bottom 5 D.
